Thermoplastic elastomer compositions, in particular derived from one or more styrenic block copolymers wherein at least one styrenic block copolymer comprises a controlled distribution copolymer block including a conjugated diene and a mono alkenyl arene, a plurality of biorenewable materials, preferably a softener and one or more synergistic additives such as a polar polymer; a synergistic block copolymer such as a relatively high molecular weight styrenic block copolymer; and/or filler. Numerous desirable articles can be formed from the compositions. Processes for preparing the compositions and articles are disclosed.

The invention relates to a thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising a thermoplastic elastomer and a flame retardant, wherein the flame retardant comprises at least a compound selected from the group consisting of piperazine phosphate, piperazine pyrophosphate and piperazine polyphosphate, and a phosphoric acid compound.

Thermoplastic elastomer composition, comprising an thermoplastic polyolefin and an dynamically vulcanized elastomer comprising monomer units of ethylene, an &#x3b1;-olefin and optionally one or more non-conjugated polyenes and oil, having an oil/elastomer ratio of at least 2/1, having a content of thermoplastic polyolefin of less than 10 wt. % relative to the total weight of the thermoplastic elastomer composition, granulate of the composition having the capability of flowing out of a cylinder, held in vertical position, within 120 seconds, after being kept in that cylinder under a pressure of 465 kg/m2, at a temperature of 50&#xb0; C., for a period of 1 hour, that cylinder having an internal diameter of 95.3 millimeter (mm) and a length of 356 mm and being filled for a length of between 326 and 338 mm.

Polymer composition

Process for the preparation of a thermoplastic elastomer by melt mixing a partially vulcanized rubber concentrate, a thermoplastic polymer and/or additives, optionally oil and a curing agent. The partially vulcanized rubber concentrate is prepared by melt mixing at least one elastomer and optionally oil with a thermoplastic polymer and a curing agent. The elastomer may be EPDM or EPM. The thermoplastic polymer may be chosen from a thermoplastic polyolefin. Useful curing agents are for example sulfur, sulfurous compounds, metal oxides, maleimides, phenol resins, siloxanes or peroxides.

Process for the preparation of a thermoplastic elastomer comprising a partially vulcanized rubber concentrate

Thermoplastic vulcanisate containing 5-70 parts by weight semi-crystalline polyolefine, 95-30 parts by weight rubber containing an at least partly vulcanised polymer, which polymer contains ethylene monomeric units, monomeric units derived from an alpha-olefine and monomeric unit derived from a non-conjugated polyene, and oil whereby the sum of the concentration of aromatic compounds and the concentration of polar compounds in the oil being less than 4.5 wt. %.
