Disclosed are pressurized surface treatment compositions which impart a microbicidal benefit to treated surfaces which compositions comprise (or in certain preferred embodiments may consist essentially of, or may consist of): a zinc ion source material which releases zinc ions into the treatment composition, preferably a source of Znions, at least lower alkyl aliphatic monohydric alcohol which independently of other constituents present exhibits a microbicidal effect, a propellant; and, water. The compositions may further optionally include one or more further optional constituents such as a detersive surfactant and/or minor amounts of one or more constituents which impart one or more advantageous technical or aesthetic benefits to the compositions, including one or more detersive surfactants wherein the compositions have pH of at least 5. The compositions exhibit a microbicidal or germicidal or antimicrobial effect on treated inanimate surfaces and are characterized in exhibiting a microbicidal benefit when tested against one or more challenge microorganisms, preferably against poliovirus type 1 (Sabin) ['PV1'], according to one or more of the following standardized test protocols: ASTM E1052 Standard Test Method for Efficacy of Antimicrobial Agents against Viruses in Suspension, or ASTM E1053 Standard Test Method to Assess Virucidal Activity of Chemicals Intended for Disinfection of Inanimate, Nonporous Environmental Surfaces, or European Standard Surface Test, EN13697, or AOAC Germicidal Spray Products as Disinfectant Test Method, AOAC Index, 17Ed. (2000).

Sprayable, aqueous alcoholic microbicidal compositions comprising zinc ions

Treatment compositions which impart a microbicidal benefit to treated surfaces which compositions comprise (or in certain preferred embodiments may consist essentially of, or may consist of) as constituents: a zinc source material which releases zinc ions into the treatment composition, preferably a source of Znions; at least one lower alkyl monohydric alcohol (preferably at least about 25% wt. of a lower alkyl monohydric alcohol); at least one quaternary ammonium compound which provides a microbicidal benefit; optionally one or more further optional constituents which impart one or more advantageous technical or aesthetic benefits to the compositions, including one or more detersive surfactants; wherein the composition has a pH of at least 5, wherein the surface treatment compositions are characterized in exhibiting a microbicidal benefit, especially preferably against poliovirus type 1 Sabin ('PV1'), when tested according to one or more of the following standardized test protocols: ASTM E1052 Standard Test Method for Efficacy of Antimicrobial Agents against Viruses in Suspension, or ASTM E1053 Standard Test Method to Assess Virucidal Activity of Chemicals Intended for Disinfection of Inanimate, Nonporous Environmental Surfaces, or European Standard Surface Test, EN13697, or AOAC Germicidal Spray Products as Disinfectant Test Method, AOAC Index, 17Ed. The present invention relates to concentrated hard surface treatment compositions which are primarily intended to be dispersed in a larger volume or quantity of water prior to use by a consumer, in order to produce a ready to use type composition.

Concentrated hard surface treatment compositions

Disclosed are aqueous, acidic hard surface cleaning compositions particularly effective in the removal of greasy stains and soapscum from hard surfaces. The compositions have a pH of not more than 2, preferably not more than 1, comprising: one or more anionic surfactants; a nonioinic surfactant constituent which preferably comprises both a first alcohol ethoxylate nonionic surfactant derived from monobranched alkoxylated C-fatty alcohols and/or C-fatty alcohols and about a second alcohol ethoxylate nonionic surfactant, preferably a C-Clinear alcohol ethoxylated surfactant having at least about 8 mols ethoxylation, an organic solvent constituent, which preferably comprises or consists of a phenyl containing glycol ether solvent, an acid constituent, which most preferably comprises, or consists of, a ternary acid system comprising each of: sulfamic acid, formic acid and oxalic acid in a respective weight ratio of sulfamic acid:formic acid:oxalic acid of 1-8:1-5:1-3. Methods for providing a cleaning treatment of hard surfaces utilizing the said compositions are also disclosed.

Highly acidic hard surface treatment compositions featuring good greasy soil and soap scum removal

Aqueous laundry detergent compositions comprising a solubilized ethoxylated fatty acid diester as a detergency booster and/or a defoamer. Preferred compositions include a nonionic surfactant, preferably ethoxylated fatty acid monoester, as at least part of the surfactant in the composition, and also functioning as the solibilizer for the ethoxylated fatty acid diester.

The present invention provides a shear thinning, transparent, gel laundry detergent composition, comprising a surfactant system containing surfactant material selected from an anionic surfactant, a nonionic surfactant or a mixture thereof, and from 1 to 8% by weight of a fatty alcohol gelling agent having the formulawherein R1, R2 and R3 are independently selected from hydrogen and saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched C&#x2013;Calkyl groups, whereby the total number of carbon atoms in the gelling agent is between 8 and 17. It has been found that this gel laundry composition can stable suspend particles or capsules either for improving visual appearance or for practical reasons.

According to the inventive method of making gels, the main mixture comprising most of the ingredients with the exception of a fatty alcohol is mixed, using at least one in-line mixer, with the gelling post-mix comprising the fatty alcohol. The preferred process includes the mixing of the main mixture and the gelling post-mix just prior to either filling or storing the composition.

Liquid and/or gel laundry detergent compositions which snap back at the end of dispensing, thus eliminating or minimizing the dripping from the container. Employing a non-neutralized fatty acid to the total surfactant weight % ratio within a specific range, defined by the Snap Index equation, results in liquids and/or gels with the desired snap-back property.

Gel detergent compositions which pile-up on a surface, upon dispensing, to minimize the spreading of the gel to a substantially larger area. The gels that can pile up are less messy to use and provide better stain removal, since more detergent is concentrated on the desired area of fabric (e.g., the spot). The composition comprises from about 10% to about 35% of a surfactant, from about 0.1 to about 5% of a non-neutralized fatty acid; from about 50 to about 85% of water; with the total of anionic surfactants selected from soap, linear alkyl benzene sulfonic acid, primary and secondary alkyl sulfates being more than 50% of total surfactant level.

Gel laundry detergent and/or pretreater which piles up after dispensing

An aqueous liquid laundry detergent composition comprising a detergent surfactant (including anionic), an emulsifier with an HLB value below about 8.5; an oil; and an electrolyte in an amount to provide ionic strength indicator of from about 0.55 to about 6.7. The composition separates, upon standing for at most 24 hours at ambient temperature, into at least two layers, one of which is an emulsion with a continuous aqueous phase. The second layer is preferably a transparent composition.

A sher-thinnig lamellar gel detergent composition, employing non-neutralized fatty acid in a specific amount, depending on the total surfactant level. The weight % ratio of non-neutralized fatty acid to the total surfactant within a specific range, defined by the Gelling Index equation, results in gels with the desired properties. The inventive product offers an advantage of laundry pre-treater and a detergent in a single product.
