Disclosed is a display device including a display panel. The device includes a reference voltage generator, a controller, and a data driver. The controller is configured to receive an input image signal and a dimming value, convert the dimming value into the dimming control signal, and convert the input image signal into image data. The reference voltage generator is configured to receive the dimming control signal and output a correction reference voltage by correcting at least one of a first gamma reference voltage and a second gamma reference voltage based on the dimming control signal. The data driver is configured to receive the correction reference voltage, generate gamma voltages based on the correction reference voltage, convert the image data into data voltages based on the gamma voltages, and output the data voltages to a display panel with pixels.

A common voltage distortion detecting circuit includes a current sensor, a voltage difference voltage detecting circuit and a comparator. The current sensor is disposed between a circuit configured to apply a common voltage to a liquid crystal display panel and an input power terminal providing a power voltage. The voltage difference detecting circuit is configured to detect a difference voltage between two terminals of the current sensor. The comparator is configured to compare the difference voltage and a reference voltage to output an over current signal to convert an inversion method of the liquid crystal display panel when the difference voltage is greater than the reference voltage.

The discharge part comprises an amplifier, an inverting input of the amplifier being connected to the driving voltage source and a non-inverting input of the amplifier being connected to an output terminal of the delay part.

A liquid crystal display including a plurality of pixels includes a gray voltage generator generating a plurality of gray voltages, a data driver supplying data voltages selected from the gray voltages corresponding to image data to the pixels, a gate driver supplying gate voltages to gate lines of the pixels, a signal controller supplying a first control signal to the gate driver and the image data and a second control signal to the data driver for controlling the image data and comprising a dimming controller, the dimming controller generating a dimming signal based on an average gray of the image data over at least one frame and a common voltage generator generating at least one common voltage based on the dimming signal and applying the common voltage to the pixels. Therefore, the variation of the pixel voltage depending on the gray of the image data is decreased to improve image quality of the LCD.
