The electronic device includes a communication module connected to an antenna capable of transmitting signals to and receiving signals from a network, a memory configured to store a database including a plurality of items of network identification information and country information corresponding to each item of network identification information, and a processor configured to control the communication module to perform a first network scan with respect to a specified frequency band of a specified radio access technology (RAT), determine country information using network identification information obtained by the first network scan and the database, and perform a second network scan with respect to a RAT and a frequency band determined based at least an the determined country information.
