This disclosure generally relates to a system, apparatus, and method for achieving an adaptive vehicle state-based hands free noise reduction feature. A noise reduction tool is provided for adaptively applying a noise reduction strategy on a sound input that uses feedback speech quality measures and machine learning to develop future noise reduction strategies, where the noise reduction strategies include analyzing vehicle operational state information and external information that are predicted to contribute to cabin noise and selecting noise reducing pre-filter options based on the analysis.

An acoustic panel for a vehicle includes a floor panel, an underbody acoustic shield, and a perimeter seal positioned between the floor panel and the underbody acoustic shield to form a pocket of trapped air. The pocket of trapped air can further reduce a transmission of noise through the floor panel into the vehicle interior.

Some of the disclosed methods include forming a key and receptor arrangement between an interconnecting member, having a first material composition, and a cross-member, having a second material composition; attaching the interconnecting member and cross-member via the key and receptor arrangement at one location; inserting the interconnecting member and cross-member in a side rail; and welding the interconnecting member to the side rail at another location.

An aluminum tubular beam is assembled to a steel box frame rail with a steel sleeve. The sleeve is connected by a crimp joint or by a hem flange to the tubular beam. The steel sleeve may be effectively welded to the steel box frame rail to which it is assembled. An adhesive may be provided between the sleeve and the beam.

An interactive method and system for designing a door system for an automotive vehicle without the necessity of building a prototype is disclosed. Initially, a door system design is selected and a set of door system data describing attributes of a door structure, a door opening panel (DOP), mating surfaces of the DOP and the vehicle, vehicle attributes, hardware attributes, and seal system attributes are generated based on the selected design. A door system model is then generated from the door system data, and a design criteria for the door system is selected. Door system performance is then determined using predetermined conditions based upon the door system model by computing and displaying time histories of predefined parameters of the door system, door related hardware, and vehicle passenger compartment. The door system performance is then compared to the design criteria and changes are made to the door system design by modifying the set of door system data if the door system performance does not meet the design criteria. The door system design can be changed, door performance can be determined and compared to the preselected design criteria in an iterative process until the door performance meets the design criteria.

Method and system for designing a vehicle door

A method and system for designing a door seal system is based upon a predicted contribution of the door seal system to sound pressure levels (SPLs) within a vehicle due to wind noise. A door seal system design is selected and a door seal system deformed geometry is determined. The deformed door seal system and acoustic media are combined to produce a fully coupled acoustic/structure model of the door seal system. A sound transmission loss is predicted for the door seal system design under predetermined conditions using acoustics, finite deformation rubber elasticity, and steady state harmonic viscoelasticity. The sound transmission loss and interior SPLs are then displayed, and the door seal design changed according to predefined rules to produce a seal design which provides a desired SPL in the vehicle.
