An image capturing apparatus includes an image sensor unit including an image sensor board on which an image sensor is mounted, a first drive mechanism that drives the image sensor unit in a first direction orthogonal to an optical axis of the image sensor, a second drive mechanism that drives the unit in a second direction orthogonal to the optical axis and different from the first direction, and a first duct disposed on an opposite side of the board to a surface on which the sensor is mounted, in a state opposed to the board, to allow cooling air to pass therethrough. The first duct has an air suction port and an air discharge port. When viewed from the optical axis direction, the first drive mechanism, the second drive mechanism, the air suction port, and the air discharge port do not overlap around the image sensor.

Image capturing apparatus capable of quickly cooling image sensor

A small-sized image pickup apparatus which has space for locating a portion capable of applying image stabilization to an image pickup unit and is capable of capturing high-quality images by rapidly cooling an image sensor in the image pickup unit. The image pickup apparatus includes a housing, an image pickup unit disposed to divide an inner space of the housing into a first space and a second space, an electronic component, a first duct, and a second duct, where the second space is in front of the first space. The electronic component is in the first space. The first duct is in the first space, and includes a first heat exchanger that exchanges heat with the electronic component and a first flow path. The second duct is in the second space, and includes a second heat exchanger that exchanges heat with the image pickup unit, and a second flow path.

Image pickup apparatus with air cooling mechanism

An image sensor converts an optical image formed by an imaging optical system to video signals. A heat dissipation section discharges heat generated in an image sensor to the outside. The imaging optical system, the image sensor, the heat dissipation section, and a battery chamber are arranged on an extension line of an axis of the system in the mentioned order. The battery chamber has an upper surface tilted forward in a direction in which the image sensor is disposed with respect to the axis by a predetermined angle. A projected shadow of a portion, close to the heat dissipation section, of an upper end portion of the battery chamber, which is projected from an upper surface side of the image capturing apparatus, overlaps the heat dissipation section.

An image capturing apparatus that is made compact in the size of an apparatus body, particularly the lateral size thereof, without impairing operability thereof. The image capturing apparatus includes connection terminals for connecting external devices thereto, an air inlet port via which air is drawn in for cooling heat sources of an apparatus body, and an air outlet port via which the air is discharged. A connection terminal arrangement surface and an air outlet port arrangement surface form different surfaces and are inclined at predetermined angles with respect to an optical axis, respectively. The connection terminal arrangement surface and the air outlet port arrangement surface are arranged to be displaced in a left-right direction, as viewed from the side of the image capturing apparatus, and are arranged to overlap each other, as viewed from the front of the image capturing apparatus.

Compact image capturing apparatus having a plurality of external connections and cooling system

An image capturing system that makes it possible to easily attach an accessory to an image capturing apparatus body without requiring any tool. The image capturing apparatus body is provided with an accessory shoe and a screw hole. The accessory removably attached to the image capturing apparatus body includes a sheet metal that is engaged with the accessory shoe by being slidably inserted therein, and a fixing screw that has an operation portion which is rotationally operated, and is provided, in association with the screw hole, at a location frontward of the sheet metal in a direction of inserting the sheet metal into the accessory shoe. The fixing screw is screwed into the screw hole in a state in which the sheet metal is engaged with the accessory shoe, whereby the accessory is attached to the image capturing apparatus body.

One of a grip and an image capture apparatus body includes a first attachment part formed by a first screw, a first electrical connection part disposed outside the first screw, and a first engagement part formed outside the first electrical connection part. The other of them includes a second attachment part formed by a second screw and screwed with the first screw, a second electrical connection part disposed outside the second screw, and electrically connected to the first electrical connection part, and a second engagement part formed outside the second electrical connection part, and engaged with the first engagement part. When the first and second screws are screwed, the first and second engagement parts are engaged, and the first and second electrical connection parts are electrically connected.
