A connector comprises a base insulator, a plurality of elongated plate shaped contacts arranged on the base insulator, and a cover insulator arranged to hold the contacts in cooperation with the base insulator and welded to the base insulator, the base insulator is provided with a pair of openings arranged to face each other across each of holders and to intersect with the direction in which the holders are arranged.

An insulator used in an electrical connector has a plate like portion. The plate like portion has upper and lower surfaces perpendicular to a Z-direction and is elongated in an X-direction. In the lower surface, a plurality of grooves are formed and extend in parallel with each other in a Y-direction. The grooves are arranged with intervals in the X-direction so that a plurality of ridges is formed between the respective neighboring grooves in the X-direction. In the upper surface of the plate like portion, material-depressed portions are provided. Each material-depressed portion extends in the Y-direction and has a shape longer in the Y-direction than in the X-direction. Each material-depressed portion is positioned in correspondence with one of the ridges. The insulator is made of anisotropic resin.

Electrical connector

In a connector () for connecting a connection object (), a conductive contact () is held by an insulator () and is for electrically connecting the connection object. In addition, a conductive plate () is held by the insulator. The conductive plate has a spring piece () facing the conductive contact. The spring piece has plural finger pieces and is for elastically contacting with the connection object. The finger pieces are arranged to have a slit left between adjacent ones of the finger pieces. The insulator has a beam portion () placed in the slit.
