A thermal printer is proposed that includes an ink ribbon on which a color ink portion and a non-color ink portion are alternately formed in a conveyance direction, a supply bobbin on which the ink ribbon is wound, a take-up bobbin on which the ink ribbon is to be wound, and a housing that contains the supply bobbin and the take-up bobbin. When an error occurs during transferring of an ink on the color ink surface, the ink ribbon is conveyed so that a portion of the ink ribbon exposed from the ink cassette between the supply bobbin and the take-up bobbin is the non-color ink portion.

First white balance correction coefficients computed based on a detected face region, and second white balance correction coefficients for correcting, to a skin color, chromaticity obtained after applying the first white balance correction coefficients to the face region are obtained. The degree of detection reliability of the face region is determined based on the parameter values obtained from the pixels of the face region and predetermined conditions. Resultant white balance correction coefficients are computed from the first white balance correction coefficients and the second white balance correction coefficients to which a smaller weight is applied as the degree of detection reliability is lower. Even when a face region is erroneously detected, high-precision white balance correction coefficients can be obtained.

When a main shooting subject is moving, the movement of the main shooting subject naturally viewed and recognized by a user is different from an actual frequent movement of the main shooting subject. If the display of an object identification mark accurately follows up a moving object, the visibility of the mark may deteriorate. The present invention provides a display method for differentiating the follow-up response characteristics of the mark depending on a shift direction of a main shooting subject. For example, the follow-up response of the mark is lowered if a main shooting subject causes an up-and-down motion.
