A starting device includes a fluid coupling, an electric motor, and a restriction mechanism. The electric motor includes a rotor and a stator. The rotor is disposed radially outside the fluid coupling. The restriction mechanism restricts relative rotation between the fluid coupling and the rotor. The restriction mechanism includes a first key groove, a second key groove, and a key body. The first key groove is provided on an inner peripheral surface of the rotor to extend in an axial direction. The second key groove is provided on an outer peripheral surface of the fluid coupling to extend in the axial direction. The second key groove is lesser in length than the first key groove. The key body includes a first key portion and a second key portion. The first key portion is fitted to the first key groove. The second key portion is fitted to the second key groove.

Starting device

A drive device includes a fluid coupling, a transmission shaft, and a rotary electrical machine. The fluid coupling includes a cover, a turbine, and an impeller. The turbine is fixed to the cover. The impeller is disposed inside an outer shell formed by the cover and the turbine. The impeller is opposed to the turbine. The transmission shaft extends to penetrate the outer shell of the fluid coupling. The transmission shaft is connected to the impeller. The rotary electrical machine includes a first stator and a rotor. The first stator is disposed in a non-rotatable manner. The rotor is attached to the outer shell of the fluid coupling.

Drive device

A drive device includes a fluid coupling and a rotary electrical machine. The fluid coupling includes an impeller and a turbine, and is configured such that a torque is inputted thereto from one axial side and outputted therefrom to another axial side. The rotary electrical machine includes a first stator and a rotor. The first stator is disposed in a non-rotatable manner. The rotor is disposed to be rotated about a rotational axis of the fluid coupling. The first stator includes a first stator core, first and second coil ends. The first coil end protrudes from the first stator core in an axial direction. The second coil end protrudes from the first stator core to an opposite side of the first coil end in the axial direction. The first coil end is bent radially outward and located in part radially outside an outer peripheral surface of the first stator core.

A drive device includes a fluid coupling and a rotary electrical machine. The fluid coupling is configured such that a torque is inputted thereto from a first side in an axial direction and is outputted therefrom to a second side in the axial direction. The rotary electrical machine includes a first stator and a rotor. The first stator is disposed in a non-rotatable manner. The rotor is disposed to be rotated about a rotational axis of the fluid coupling. The rotary electrical machine is disposed on the second side with respect to the fluid coupling in the axial direction. The rotary electrical machine overlaps the fluid coupling in an axial view.

A drive device includes a fluid coupling, a rotary electrical machine, and a damper device. The fluid coupling includes an input unit and an output unit. The input unit includes an impeller. The output unit includes a turbine. The rotary electrical machine includes a first stator and a rotor. The first stator is disposed in a non-rotatable manner. The rotor is attached to the output unit. The damper device is disposed axially adjacent to the fluid coupling. The damper device is connected to the input unit.

A lock-up device includes a clutch part, an input plate, an outer peripheral side damper part, an output plate, an inner peripheral side damper part, and an intermediate member. The outer peripheral side damper part includes at least two outer peripheral side springs. The outer peripheral side springs are disposed in a circumferential alignment, act in series, and take circular-arc shapes when in a free state. The inner peripheral side damper part includes at least two inner peripheral side springs. The inner peripheral side springs are disposed in a circumferential alignment on an inner peripheral side of the outer peripheral side damper part, and act in series. The intermediate member is rotatable relatively to the input plate and the output plate, and makes the outer peripheral side damper part and the inner peripheral side damper part act in series.

Lock-up device for torque converter

An impeller, a turbine, and a stator form a torus of a torque converter. A elliptic ratio L/H of an axial length L of the torus to a radial height H of the torus is 0.72 or smaller. A diameter ratio (D/D) of an inner diameter Dof the torus to an outer diameter Dof the torus is 0.45 or greater. The impeller includes an impeller core, and an impeller axial length ratio (Lp/D) of an axial length Lp of the impeller core to the outer diameter Dof the torus is in a range between 0.030 to 0.045. The turbine includes a turbine core, and an turbine axial length ratio (Lt/D) of an axial length Lt of the turbine core to the outer diameter Dof the torus is in a range between 0.021 to 0.029.

Torque converter

An impeller shell 40a of a torque converter includes a main portion 41, a connection portion 42 and a stepped portion 43. The main portion 41 has a curved inner peripheral surface 41a carrying impeller blades, and is opposed to a turbine 5. The connection portion 42 has a cylindrical form larger in diameter than an outer periphery of the inner peripheral surface 41a, and is fixed to a front cover 3. The stepped portion 43 couples an end of the main portion 41 near an engine to an end of the connection portion 42 near a transmission. A corner portion formed of the inner peripheral surface 41a and a surface 43a near the engine has a radius set to 4 mm or less by preliminary forming by a press and subsequent finish forming by a press.

Impeller shell of torque converter and method of forming the same

A stator 6 includes an annular inner shell 11, an annular outer shell 12 and blades 13. The outer shell 12 is arranged radially outside the inner shell 11. The blades 13 are formed between the inner shell 11 and the outer shell 12, and are arranged at a plurality of circumferentially aligned positions, respectively. Each blade 13 extends from the inner shell 11 to the outer shell 12 and thereby couples the outer peripheral portion of the inner shell 11 and the inner peripheral portion of the outer shell 12 together. A rate of change in cross sectional area of the blade changes at a position located radially outside the inner shell 11 at a distance in a range from 1/6 to 1/2 of a distance (r2-r1) between the outer peripheral portion of the inner shell 11 and the inner peripheral portion of the outer shell 12.

Stator of a torque converter

A stator blade 13 has a blade tip 14, a blade trailing edge 15, a back 16 and a face 17. The blade tip 14 is an edge of the peripheral surface of the stator blade 13 near the turbine. The blade trailing edge 15 is an edge of the peripheral surface of the stator blade 13 near the impeller. The back 16 is a portion of the peripheral surface of the stator blade 13 extending between the blade tip 14 and the blade trailing edge 15 and opposed to the impeller 4, and has a streamline section. The face 17 is a portion of the peripheral surface of the stator blade 13 extending between the blade tip 14 and the blade trailing edge 15 and opposed to the turbine 5, and is formed of a streamline portion 17a and a plane portion 17b located near the blade tip 14. The shape of the stator blade 13 is such that a capacity coefficient (Cf) of a torque converter is lower when a speed ratio (e) is 0, and thereby improving fuel consumption during idling.

Stator blade of torque converter

A lock-up damper device for a torque converter comprising a piston clutch plate slidable in axial direction and equipped with a friction facing pressed on a front cover and a driven plate interconnected to a turbine in between the front cover and the turbine. The piston clutch plate and the driven plate are coupled to each other, for relative rotation by torsion springs arranged longitudinal in circumferential direction of such plates. The torsion springs are installed at outer and inner peripheral parts of the plates. The torsion springs installed on the inner peripheral part of said plates is in contact at at least their radial outer peripheral, radial inner peripheral and side portions between said radial outer and inner peripheries with a wall of a concave portion formed on the piston clutch plate, and the torsion springs installed on the outer and inner peripheral parts are held by the drive plate secured to the piston clutch plate.
