An excessive torque releasing type clutch apparatus comprises an outer ring, an inner ring arranged radially inside and coaxially with the outer ring and rotatably relative to the outer ring, a torque transmitting portion capable of transmitting torque between the outer ring and the inner ring, and a restricting mechanism for restricting excessive torque from being input from an input torque transmitting member to a driving ring of the outer ring and the inner ring and restricting excessive inverse torque that is input to a driven ring of the outer ring and the inner ring from being input to the input torque transmitting member. Treatment steps for securing strength of constituent members of the clutch apparatus in manufacturing be simplified or omitted.

Clutch apparatus

A one-way clutch is disclosed, which improves durability while reducing a drag torque and restraining burning of a block bearing. The one-way clutch includes: a torque transfer mechanism disposed between an outer raceand an inner raceso disposed in the outer raceas to be spaced inwardly in a diametrical direction, and hindering the outer raceand the inner racefrom making a relative rotation in a predetermined direction; and block bearingsdisposed between the outer raceand the inner racetogether with the torque transfer mechanism, and keeping the outer raceand the inner racein a concentric state, in which each block bearing has a slide surfacecontiguous with an axis-directional surface of the outer raceor the inner race, and at least part of the slide surfaceis a roughened surface.

One-way clutch

An engine starter mechanism using a one way clutch includes a starter motor; a ring gear for receiving a driving force from the starter motor; the one way clutch including an outer race, an inner race disposed away from the outer race in a radially inner direction and relatively rotatably disposed concentrically with the outer race, and a torque transmitting section disposed between the outer race and the inner race to transmit a torque; and an oil seal for sealing the one way clutch, the ring gear is connected to the outer race of the one way clutch, and the oil seal is held between the ring gear and the outer race.

Engine starter mechanism using one way clutch

In a one way clutch shipped and transported in a sub-assembly state in which one of inner ring and outer ring is assembled in a later stage. The retainer has pockets radially passing therethrough at predetermined intervals and columns between the adjacent pockets. The circumferential length of each column is so designed as to cause the biasing members, each having a spring force that allows reduction of drug, to exert a biasing force that is so strong that the torque transmission members are prevented by biasing by the biasing members from being dislocated in the sub-assembly state. The circumferential width of an engagement projection of a block bearing is smaller than that of a groove in one of the rings. When a torque greater than a predetermined level is input, the retainer shifts by a distance equal to a gap between the engagement projection and an end of the groove.
