The anode body includes a plurality of principal surfaces, and at least a part of a surface layer of at least one principal surface of the plurality of principal surfaces of the anode body is denser than an inside of the anode body.

Electrolytic capacitor including an anode body having non-uniform density

An electrolytic capacitor includes an anode body having a porous structure, an anode lead having a sheet shape, a cathode layer, an anode lead frame electrically connected to the anode lead, and a cathode lead frame electrically connected to the cathode layer. The anode lead includes an embedded portion embedded in the anode body and a protrusion portion protruding to an outside of the anode body. The anode lead has a first main surface facing the cathode lead frame and a second main surface opposite to the first main surface. The anode lead is located between a center of the anode body and an end face of the anode body in a first direction in which the first main surface faces the cathode lead frame. The end face of the anode body is positioned at a side close to the cathode lead frame.

Electrolytic capacitor having reduced equivalent series resistance

An electrolytic capacitor including a capacitor element that includes an anode body being porous, a dielectric layer formed on the surface of the anode body, and a solid electrolyte layer covering at least part of the dielectric layer. The anode body has a plurality of principal surfaces and a corner portion. The corner portion includes a plurality of side portions connecting between the principal surfaces, and one or more vertex portions connecting between the principal surfaces. A surface layer X of at least part of the corner portion is more compact in texture than a surface layer Y of the principal surface adjacent to the surface layer X.

Electrolytic capacitor and method for manufacturing same

An electrolytic capacitor includes an anode body having a porous structure, an anode lead partially embedded in the anode body, a dielectric layer formed on a surface of the anode body, and a cathode part that covers at least part of the dielectric layer. The anode body has a first region in which first particles sintered together and a second region in which second particles sintered together. The average particle diameter D1 of the first particles is smaller than the average particle diameter D2 of the second particles. The volume-based pore diameter distribution of the anode body with the dielectric layer has a first peak in a range of less than or equal to 0.5 &#x3bc;m in pore diameter, and a second peak in a range of more than 0.5 &#x3bc;m in pore diameter.

A method for producing an electrode foil includes an electrolytic etching step of etching a metal foil containing first metal by applying current between the metal foil and an electrode in etching liquid while a principal surface of the metal foil faces the electrode. A masking member is disposed between the principal surface of the metal foil and the electrode so as to cover a partial region of the principal surface. The masking member is an electric conductor. The masking member is electrically connected with the metal foil.

Electrode foil production method and capacitor production method

A method for producing an electrode foil includes: a first step of preparing a metal foil, the metal foil having a strip shape; a second step of disposing a masking member so as to cover part of a principal surface of the metal foil; and a third step of partially etching the principal surface of the metal foil by applying current between the metal foil and an electrode while the metal foil faces the electrode via the masking member in etching liquid after the second step. The masking member has a strip shape. In the second step, the masking member is disposed along a longitudinal direction of the metal foil so as to be separated from both side edges of the metal foil.

An electric double layer capacitor has an element, a first terminal, a second terminal, a resin-made case, and a resin-made lid. A pair of electrodes are led out of the element. Each of the electrodes is connected to each of the first terminal and the second terminal. The element and an electrolyte are accommodated in the case having an opening top surface, and the lid is bonded to the top surface of the case. The joints of the first and second terminals are disposed at positions higher than the inner bottom of the case, and are exposed upward. The rims of the joints and intermediate conductive sections continuing from them are buried in the case, and the terminal sections continuing from the intermediate conductive sections are led from the side surface of the case to the outside.

Electric double layer capacitor having a first terminal having a first joint and a second terminal having a second joint

A capacitor has a capacitor element, an open-topped case on which terminals joined to a pair of electrode lead sections of the capacitor element are disposed facing each other, and a cover combined with the open surface of the case. Each terminal has a pair of intermediate conductive sections and a pair of terminal sections. The joint has a joint surface to which one of the electrode lead sections of the capacitor element is joined. The intermediate conductive sections are L-shaped, and are extendedly disposed in directions opposite to each other from both ends of the joint. The terminal sections are disposed further extendedly from the intermediate conductive sections and placed symmetrically about the joint.

An electrolytic solution for use in an electrolytic capacitor including a capacitor element and a casing containing the capacitor element, the capacitor element including a pair of electrodes, and a conductive separator (E) which is formed with a conductive polymer layer (F) containing a dopant agent (H) on its surface and is interposed between the pair of electrodes, the conductive separator (E) and the pair of electrodes being rolled up in an overlapped state with each other, and spaces between the pair of electrodes being impregnated with the electrolytic solution, wherein an acid component (D) and a base component (C) as electrolytic components to be contained in the electrolytic solution are at such a molar ratio that the acid component (D) is excessive. By use of the electrolytic solution, increase in the ESR with the elapse of time in an electrolytic capacitor is suppressed.
