An airbag device is provided in which the airbag is made by folding an airbag having a left airbag section and a right airbag section and wrapping the folded airbag by a shape-retaining sheet. In one form, an airbag includes a left airbag section and a right airbag section that are inflated on the left and right, respectively, in front of a passenger, and a base chamber that communicates base ends of the airbag sections with each other. The airbag is folded so as to have reduced vertical and longitudinal widths, and is wrapped by a shape-retaining sheet. An opening is provided in the shape-retaining sheet so as to face a lateral face of a folded body of the airbag on the passenger side.

Airbag device

An airbag device is provided in which an airbag having a left airbag section and a right airbag section is folded by a new folding method. An airbag includes a left airbag section inflated on the left in front of a passenger; a right airbag section inflated on the right in front of the passenger; and a base chamber that connects ends of the left airbag section and the right airbag section. When the left airbag section and the right airbag section are folded, the lower halves of the bags and from a connecting band are folded back upward along a line Lthat connects the lower edge of the connecting band and the lower edge of the fixing plate.

An airbag and airbag device are provided wherein the left airbag section and right airbag section both expand generally uniformly. An airbag comprises a right airbag section which expands at the right side ahead of the passenger, and a left airbag section which expands at the left side ahead of the passenger. Openings are provided on the facing faces of the right airbag section and the left airbag section at a portion partway along the direction of expansion, the perimeter portions of the openings and are sewn together. The inner space of the right airbag section and the left airbag section communicate through the openings.

Airbag and airbag device

An airbag and an airbag apparatus is provided including a right half and left half airbag, in which a stitching trouble therefore is saved, and a motor vehicle provided with the airbag apparatus. An airbag is formed of an inside panel extending from a tip end of a right half airbag up to a tip end of a left half airbag, while passing through each facing surface of both a right half airbag and the left half airbag, and a one-sheet outer panel constituting an outer surface of the right half airbag (right outer surface), an outer surface of the left half airbag (left outer surface), and a surface surrounding a base end chamber (mouth surface).

Airbag apparatus

An airbag and an airbag device are provided that include a left airbag section and a right airbag section which sufficiently absorbs shock when they receive an occupant. In one form, an airbag includes a left airbag section which is inflated at the left front side of an occupant, a right airbag section which is inflated at the right front side of the occupant, and a base-end chamber connecting one end of the left airbag section and one end of the right airbag section to each other. When the inflation of the airbag is completed, a connecting member connecting the left airbag section and the right airbag section is disposed at a height P, which is below a mid-point M of the left airbag section and the right airbag section in a vertical direction. When the airbag is in an inflated state, a vertical peripheral length of a left side of the left airbag section is shorter than a vertical peripheral length of a left outside panel adjacent the center of a vehicle body.

An airbag is inflated in a direction that a distal end thereof moves away from a base end thereof with gas ejected from an inflator disposed on the base end. The airbag includes a left airbag section to be inflated toward a left front of an occupant, and a right airbag section to be inflated toward a right front of the occupant. The airbag further includes a width limiting member for limiting lateral widths of the left airbag section and the right airbag section during inflation. The width limiting member pulls an upper part of at least one of the left airbag section and the right airbag section adjacent to a car body inwardly and downwardly.

Airbag and airbag system

An airbag is inflated with gas ejected from an inflator disposed at a base-end thereof in a direction that a front end of the airbag moves away from the base-end of the airbag. The airbag includes a left half airbag to be inflated on a front left side of an occupant and a right half airbag to be inflated on a front right side of the occupant. The airbag is formed of an inner panel extending from a front end of the right half airbag to a front end of the left half airbag; a right outer panel forming an outer surface of the right half airbag; a left outer panel forming an outer surface of the left half airbag; and a base-end panel forming a base-end chamber. The gas from the inflator is supplied into the left and right half airbags through the base-end chamber.

Airbag, airbag system and vehicle

In an airbag, a distal side is inflated away from a proximal side with an inflator disposed on the proximal side. Airbag and airbag apparatus

An airbag and an airbag apparatus are provided which can absorb an impact to be applied to an occupant sufficiently. An airbag includes a right airbag section to be inflated at the right side ahead of the occupant, a left airbag section to be inflated at the left side ahead of the occupant, and a rear chamber communicating between the base ends of the right airbag section and the left airbag section. In a state in which the airbag is inflated, an extending member such as a tie panel does not exist between the tip portions of the right airbag section and the left airbag section, and a space formed between the tip portions of the bags opens toward the occupant. The left airbag section has a larger capacity having a larger lateral width in the inflated state.

Airbag, airbag apparatus, and vehicle

An airbag for protecting an occupant in a vehicle includes a left half airbag to be inflated toward a front left side of the occupant; a right half airbag to be inflated toward a front right side of the occupant; and at least one tie panel for connecting the left and right half airbag. The left and right half airbags contact with each other when the airbag is inflated.

An airbag is provided in which connecting belts extending from opposed surfaces of a left airbag section and a right airbag section can be connected easily to each other and which can be manufactured easily. In one form, the airbag is composed of four panels; an inside panel, a right outside panel, a left outside panel and a proximal panel. Connecting belts are connected to the inside panel. The respective connecting belts are each formed with an insertion portion by folding a cloth fabric having a pair of end sides at about a midsection thereof. Rod-shaped jigs are inserted into the respective insertion portions. In a state in which the connecting belts are overlapped, the jibs are fixed in parallel at a predetermined distance, and width control tethers are pulled in the directions away from each other. Accordingly, a tensile force is applied to the respective connecting belts, and hence a tensed flatly extended state is achieved. Therefore, the connecting belts can be stitched with respect to each other easily.

Airbag, method of manufacturing the same, airbag apparatus and vehicle

An airbag includes a bag portion, a pressure sensor for detecting an inner pressure of the bag portion when the airbag is inflated, and a harness electrically connected to the pressure sensor. The harness has a portion disposed on an inner surface of the bag portion along a folding line for folding the bag portion.

An airbag device includes an airbag and an inflator disposed at a side of a base portion of the airbag for inflating the airbag. The airbag includes a left half airbag with a vent hole to be inflated at a front left of a vehicle occupant, and a right half airbag with a vent hole to be inflated at a front right of the vehicle occupant. The distal ends of the left half airbag and the right half airbag are spaced part from each other to form an empty space therebetween facing the vehicle occupant when the airbag is inflated.
