A printing apparatus includes an interface that supplies power from the outside, a battery, and a conveyance unit that conveys a printing medium using power from the battery or interface. When the remaining battery level before conveyance of a printing medium starts is determined as being not less than a first threshold, the conveyance unit is caused to convey the printing medium by power from the battery. When the remaining battery level is determined as being less than the first threshold and the printing apparatus is supplied with power from the interface, the battery is charged with power from the interface, the conveyance unit is caused to convey the printing medium, and a second determination is performed for the remaining battery level after the printing medium reaches a predetermined position. When the remaining battery level is determined as being not less than a second threshold, image-printing processing starts.

An ink cassette comprises a supply bobbin, a winding bobbin, and an enclosure including a supply bobbin storage portion and a winding bobbin storage portion. In the supply bobbin storage portion and the winding bobbin storage portion, an opening is provided in one side surface of the enclosure, with an elastic piece provided within each of the openings, and a rotation restricting portion is provided on an inner side of another side surface of the enclosure. The supply bobbin and the winding bobbin has a rotation-restricted portion. The supply bobbin and the winding bobbin are biased by the elastic pieces toward the other side surface in which the rotation restricting portions are provided, and the rotation-restricted portions engage with the rotation restricting portions and restrict rotation of the supply bobbin and the winding bobbin.

A print control apparatus is configured to transfer transparent protective ink onto an image printed on a substrate. The print control apparatus includes an extraction unit configured to extract a contour of a subject in the image, and a control unit configured to generate print data for transferring the protective ink using a printing apparatus, based on the extracted contour of the subject. The control unit generates the print data by assigning a high gradation value to a contour line corresponding to the extracted contour of the subject, assigning a low gradation value to a region corresponding to the subject, and assigning a mixture of the high gradation value and the low gradation value to an outer peripheral region of the subject.

An accessory attachable to an image pickup apparatus through an adapter includes a body portion configured to contact the adapter, a screw engageable with a screw hole in the image pickup apparatus through a through-hole formed in the adapter, an operation unit configured to move the screw relative to the body portion. The present invention provides an inexpensive and compact printing apparatus. When an operation body is urged upward by a flat spring and is in a return position, a projection disposed on the operation body is held between opposing positioning portions and the position of the operation body in an X-direction is set. When the operation body is pressed at a position away from a central portion of the operation body in the X-direction, the operation body pivots on one of retaining structures downward. At this time, the projection moves away from the opposing positioning portions, and resistance against a pressing operation can thereby be reduced.
