An image forming apparatus has an unfixed toner image forming device, and a fixing device, wherein a toner amount of the unfixed toner image forming device is smaller than a toner amount of the unfixed toner image formed on a second recording material having a thickness smaller than that of the first recording material by the unfixed toner image forming device. The image forming apparatus is thus able to form a good image on a thick recording.

An image forming apparatus has a document scanning unit which can be shifted while illuminating an original and which is shifted backwardly at a speed faster than a speed when said document scanning unit is shifted forwardly to scan the original, and a control unit which lowers the electric power supplied to an image fixing means when the document scanning unit is shifted backwardly.

When an image is adjusted to compensate for individual differences among image forming units, there are cases where a phenomenon occurs in which a contour that is originally non-existent appears in a low-density portion, namely an area other than that where the output density characteristic is linear. In such instances image quality deteriorates markedly when importance is placed upon tonality. To solve this problem, a printer is caused to print an image diagnostic pattern, the image diagnostic pattern that has been printed is read by a reader and the linear portion of the output density characteristic of a design center value and the linear portion of the read output density characteristic are approximated by straight lines. Both of the output density characteristics are compared and image adjustment coefficients A, B are compared. The coefficients A, B thus obtained are set in a primary converter and gamma tables in a gamma converter are changed over in conformity with the values of the coefficients A, B.

Image processing apparatus and method for reproducing high quality image in low-density portion

For use in a copying apparatus or the like, there is provided an image heating apparatus having a first heater, a second heater, and a power supply control device for controlling the power supply to the first and second heaters, wherein the power supply control unit is adapted, in case of power supply to both of the first and second heaters, to at first start power supply to the first heater and then to the second heater, and, in case of power supply again to both of the first and second heaters, to at first start power supply to the second heater and then to the first heater.

An image processing apparatus for subjecting input image data to a density conversion includes three dot isolation circuits which subject the pixels on each of a plurality of lines adjoining in the sub-scan direction to a density conversion in accordance with a different predetermined conversion characteristic (LUT) for each line. Though each dot separation circuit deals with a different number of lines of image data to undergo a density conversion, the predetermined conversion characteristics can be set in advance in such a manner that the density values of a plurality of pixels on adjoining line will be preserved if an overall view of the reproduced image is taken.

Image processing apparatus and method for improving image reproducibility

An object of the present invention is to perform a well tonality reproduction according to a state of an image support body. In order to achieve the object, the present invention is featured by comprising the image support body for supporting an image which is to be formed on a medium, a signal generation means for generating an image signal representing the image, a detection means for detecting a value according to a membrane thickness of the image support body, and a conversion means for converting the image signal on the basis of the detected value according to the membrane thickness.

A magneto-optical recording medium that exhibits an excellent ability to achieve flying stability for the associated magnetic head during recording operations and can effectively prevent adsorption of the magnetic head on its protective layer, includes a substrate, a recording layer with a magneto-optical recording film, and a protective layer, which are arranged in this order, wherein that surface of the protective layer which is not opposed to the recording layer has a surface roughness of not less than 0.1 .mu.m but not more than 0.85 .mu.m as measured in terms of center line average height.

Layer-by-layer vapor deposition method for forming a high Tc

A field-effect transistor (FET) is described having a source; a drain; a channel formed between the source and the drain; and a gate electrode. The channel is composed of a film layer of oxide having the perovskite structure comprised of: (1) at least one metal selected from the group consisting of the metal elements in Group IV through Group XI of the Periodic Table of Elements and Bi; and (2) at least one metal selected from the group consisting of alkali metals, alkaline earth metals and rare earth metals. The layer has a film thickness of not larger than 1000 .ANG. and the electrical resistivity not less than 2 million centimeters. The channel of the oxide film layer is provided with a metal oxide insulator layer formed directly or through another metal oxide insulator layer and a gate electrode in electrical contact therewith. It is possible to make memories using this FET. In addition, it also becomes possible to reduce the size of devices using the FET of the invention.

A process for producing a magnetic recording medium includes coating a nonmagnetic substrate with a magnetic paint and applying a rotating magnetic field for orientation to the raw fabric with magnetic paint in a yet unsolidified state on the substrate, in which a magnetic field is applied to the above raw fabric so that the magnetic lines of force may pass from the back face to the front surface or from the front surface to the back surface of the raw fabric before application of the rotating magnetic field for orientation, thereby effecting preliminary orientation.

A process for preparing a magnetic recording medium by coating a magnetic coating material on a non-magnetic support and then drying the above magnetic coating material, which comprises imparting a magnetic field to said magnetic coating material with a magnet which rotates with the rotational surface at an angle of 5.degree. to 30.degree. relative to the surface of said support prior to drying of said magnetic coating material on said support.
