A power transmission for a compressor includes a driven member rotable by an engine. The power transmission includes a drive member rotable coaxially with the driven member to rotate a shaft of a compressor for regulating displacement of the compressor. The power transmission includes a link interconnecting the driven member and the drive member with each other in a crossing direction relative to the drive shaft. The link is disengageable from one member of the driven member and the drive member.

A coupling member () is of a forked leaf spring which is substantially U-shaped and has a pair of sidepiece portions (), a pair of bent portions (), a pair of joining portions () and a curved portion (). The sidepiece portions () are disposed parallel to each other. The bent portions () are configured to extend from the sidepiece portions () and have sandwich portions () releasably supporting a first pin () mounted on a pulley, respectively. Each sandwich portion () has an inside surface () which is opposed to the outside circumferential surface of the first pin () at a regular distance, and a first and second projections () which are provided at both ends of the inside surface () and contacted with the outside circumferential surface of the first pin ().

Coupling member

A variable displacement swash plate type compressor has a plurality of cylinders circumferentially arranged in a casing thereof. It includes a device for achieving a smooth axial movement of each piston in the cylinder while suppressing a rotational movement of the piston about an axis thereof. This device includes a cylindrical piston rod that extends from an eccentric portion of a piston head of each piston and a supporting plate tightly installed in the casing. The supporting plate has a circular opening through which the piston rod of each piston slidably passes.

A swash-plate type compressor comprises a drive shaft, at least one plunger piston, a cylinder block rotatably supporting the drive shaft and defining therein at least one cylinder chamber or bore, the cylinder chamber slidably accommodating the piston to permit an axial reciprocal sliding movement of the piston in the cylinder chamber, a swash plate rotatably mounted on the drive shaft, and a linkage provided between the drive shaft and the swash plate for causing a rotational movement of the swash plate in synchronization with rotation of the drive shaft, while permitting a wobbling movement of the swash plate. The piston includes a bottom section having a recessed portion for receiving a pair of semi-spherical shoes and for slidably holding the swashplate side walls between the shoe pair for the axial reciprocal sliding movement of the piston, and a main skirt section having a through-opening extending in a rotational direction of the swash plate.

Swash-plate type compressor

A variable displacement swash plate type compressor has a coupling structure between a drive shaft and a swash plate in order to allow the swash plate to be movable along the drive shaft and inclinable relative to the same. The coupling structure comprises a bearing portion provided on the drive shaft to rotate therewith. The bearing portion includes first and second semicylindrical outer walls which are symmetrically arranged with respect to an axis of the drive shaft and first and second flat side walls which are symmetrically arranged with respect to the axis. Each of the first and second semicylindrical outer walls is perpendicular to each of the first and second flat side walls. The bearing portion further includes a rectangular center bore formed in a hub portion of the swash plate. The center bore is so sized and shaped as to intimately and slidably receive therein the bearing portion.

Variable displacement swash plate type compressor

In a variable displacement swash plate type compressor, there is employed a structure for stopping or minimizing a turning movement of a piston about its axis. The structure comprises a given part of the piston which is always out of the corresponding cylinder chamber; a turn stopper portion formed on the given part and including laterally opposed sides each having a rounded outer surface; and a cylindrical surface defined in a casing of the compressor at a portion which faces the turn stopper portion. The cylindrical surface is so arranged as to make a surface-to-surface contact with one of the laterally opposed sides when the piston is turned about its axis by a given angle.

A cooling system of a V-type internal combustion engine comprises a coolant passage formed around each engine cylinder. A coolant gallery is formed between the two cylinder banks of a cylinder block of the engine and extends along the row of the engine cylinders of each cylinder bank, the coolant gallery being in communication with a coolant pump at the outlet member. Additionally, the coolant gallery is formed with a plurality of communication holes through each of which the coolant gallery is in direct communication with the coolant passage formed around each engine cylinder. Accordingly, all the engine cylinders are uniformly cooled while achieving uniform distribution of the coolant from the coolant pump into the two cylinder banks.

Cooling system of V-type internal combustion engine

A structure of a cylinder assembly of an internal combustion engine has a coolant circulating system for cooling the cylinder assembly while the engine is driving. The cylinder assembly generally comprises a cylinder block formed therein a plurality of engine cylinder in line, and a cylinder head sealingly mounted on the cylinder block. The coolant circulating system comprises a coolant chamber formed within the cylinder block so that it surrounds substantial part of each engine cylinder, a return passage formed in the cylinder head. The coolant chamber communicates with the return passage through a plurality of vertical passages. Adjacent the top of the vertical passage, there is provided with a projecting portion inwardly projecting thereto. A sloped passage is formed within a partition disposed between each of adjacent engine cylinder. The upper end of the sloped passage is opened at the projecting portion at right angle to the planar surface of the projecting portion. By forming the projecting portion within the vertical passage and forming the sloped passage extending therefrom at right angle, it makes easy to form the sloped passage within the partition. Further, by forming the sloped passage as the manner mentioned above, the cylinder assembly is easily prevented from leakage of coolant and/or air/fuel mixture discharged to the engine cylinder.
