A trunk line bandwidth reservation system is applied to an asynchronous transfer mode switching system which is coupled to a plurality of terminals. The trunk line bandwidth reservation system includes a data storage for storing reservation data, a bandwidth reservation part for registering a reservation datum which includes at least a time zone and a reserved bandwidth to be used by a reserved communication into the data storage in response to a reservation request which includes the reservation datum and is generated from a first terminal before the time zone, where the time zone starts from a reserved start time, and a bandwidth assignment part for assigning the reserved bandwidth to the first terminal in response to a connect request which is generated from the first terminal at the reserved start time, and for assigning an available bandwidth to a second terminal in response to a connect request which is generated from the second terminal by judging the available bandwidth based on a bandwidth which is presently in use and the reserved bandwidth which is secured by the reservation datum. The second terminal is other than the first terminal and generates the connect request which is no associated with a reservation request.

A voice cell transmission method by which a VTOA architecture is employed and the transmission delay time can be minimized when transmitting the voice cell, and a system using the method are provided. Voice transmission method, in an ATM transmission system for transmitting a voice traffic, which is compressed, and is provided on a payload of a standard cell in a short cell format, comprising the steps of forming voice frames in every predetermined period of a talk-spurt of one voice channel, and providing the formed voice frames continuously on the payload of the standard cell. In a detailed example, a number of the voice frames of the one voice channel provided on the standard cell are dynamically varied according to a status of the network.

Method and system for transmitting voice cell

The present invention relates to a data exchange and a data exchanging method each suitable for a communication system which tends to be congested due to high-speed communication such as a frame relay network. The data exchange that accommodates plural data terminals via terminal trunks includes a congestion status detecting unit for detecting the congestion status in a standard transit trunk, and the transit trunk control unit including a first alternate control unit that controls to transfer data to be transferred by a roundabout route using a backup transit trunk, based on detection information from the congestion status detecting unit. The purpose of the present invention is to suppress the occurrence of congestion or the frame disposal of a frame at a congestion occurrence time.

The present invention has as its object to provide a frame relay switching node for enabling the performance of fault traces without causing insufficiency in the trace area. To achieve this object, in the case where the discarding of a frame has been performed by the frame reception processing section or by the relay frame reception processing section, or in the case where the loss of a frame has occurred within the relay frame reception processing section, the contents of the discarded or lost frame are reported to the frame relay trace control section. The frame relay trace control section is made to set within the trace area only the contents and the discard factors of frames that have been discarded or lost.

A frame relay switching apparatus in a frame relay network employs a frame format used in a frame relay communication between a plurality of terminals, performed by identifying a destination by a data link connection identifier (DLCI) in an address field. Priority or non-priority information for an identifier provided in a frame being transmitted for identifying a destination terminal is registered for each DLCI so that a zone assigned to each of them is not overflown, to prevent a frame having a priority DLCI from being discarded. In case of congestion, all frames having identical non-priority DLCIs are discarded at the same time. The switching apparatus includes a plurality of transmitting buffers provided at each outgoing line, and a common buffer, which can be shared by a plurality of lines. A congested line writes a received frame in the common buffer and takes the frame out from the common buffer to write it in a respective transmitting buffer when the congestion has been resolved. When performing inter-LAN communication, a router sets a priority level, which is determined in accordance with a destination address on a LAN and a LAN protocol, in the address field of a frame relay frame and sends it out to the frame relay network.

A variable length data switch and a variable length data relaying method using the variable length data switch are suited for accommodating an ATM-LAN or the like in a frame relay switch as the variable length data switch. The variable length data switch has a receiver side cell line configuring unit including a fixed length data receiving element for receiving fixed length data from a fixed length data line and a receiver side data converting element for converting the fixed length data received by the fixed length data receiving element, a variable length data switching unit for switching the variable length data from the receiver side cell line configuring unit, and a transmitter side cell line configuring unit including a transmitter side data converting element for converting the variable length data from the variable length data switching unit and a fixed length data transmitting element for transmitting converted fixed length data to a fixed length data line, thereby realizing a simple fixed length data switch.

The present invention relates to a broadcast service system where a broadcast transmission terminal is connected to a broadcast reception terminal through a plurality (large number) of switching nodes. The object of the invention is to provide a broadcast service system which has a small number of connection paths between switching nodes and can receive selectively, freely and arbitrarily broadcast program from the broadcast reception terminal. In the broadcast service system where a broadcast transmission terminal is connected to a broadcast reception terminal via a network having plural or many switching nodes, distribution modules, which control distributively input information, are formed so as to arrange to each or some of the switching nodes as an external circuit to an exchange switch in corresponding switching nodes.
