A disc apparatus includes a turntable having surface on which a disc is to be placed and being rotatable around a rotation axis; a disc holding mechanism which can be in a first state of holding the disc on the turntable so as to be rotatable around the rotation axis and a second state which is different from the first state; a first contact member; and a moving mechanism for relatively moving the first contact member and the turntable with respect to each other.

Disc apparatus

A disc cartridge includes a disc holder for supporting a recording medium. The disc holder includes a grip. A case defines a housing portion for receiving the disc holder and the recording medium. The case allows the disc holder with the recording medium to be inserted into and removed from the housing portion via an opening. The disk holder also includes a lock for securing the disc holder to the case at a position. The grip has side portions tapering from a bottom end to a top end of the grip, the top end of the grip having a smaller width than the bottom end of the grip. A cut of the upper case and a cut of the lower case are shaped to correspond with the taper of the side portions of the grip thereby facilitating smooth engagement of the grip and the cuts.

Disc cartridge

A disc cartridge adaptor for housing a information storage disc and a disc holder. The disc cartridge adaptor includes: a case body including a housing portion for rotatably housing the disc, and an opening communicating with the housing portion for allowing insertion and removal of the disc holder and the disc. A lid is pivotably supported by the case body. The housing portion is able to house the disc together with the disc holder or without the disc holder. The lid includes a positioning member movable between a first position and a second position with respect to the lid. The positioning member is in the first position restricting the position of the disc within a predetermined range when the disc is housed in the housing portion without the disc holder, and retreats to the second position when the disc holder is housed in the housing portion.

Disc cartridge adaptor

A disc cartridge in accordance with the present invention includes a disc holder for supporting a disc-shaped recording medium; and a case for receiving the disc holder and the recording medium. The disc holder includes at least one finger-shaped flexible member that extends from a side face of the disc holder and bends in the plane substantially parallel with top and bottom portions of the disc holder. The case further includes an opening and a member for engaging with the flexible member to secure the disc holder; and means for preventing an easy touch of a human finger on the flexible member to protect the disc holder from being easily released. Once the disc holder is housed in the case, part of the disc holder blocks the opening of the case.

A disc case having a case main unit including an accommodation chamber for rotatably accommodating a disc having a signal recording surface on at least one side of the disc, support member access openings provided in the top and bottom walls of the accommodation chamber so that a chucking member can apply an external pressure to the disc, a head access opening formed in the top or bottom wall of the accommodation chamber and tangent to the side wall surface of the accommodation chamber so that a read/write head can read and/or record signals on the signal recording surface of the disc, and a concave portion formed in an area extending from the side wall surface at the head access opening to the front fringe portion of the case main unit and concave with respect to the top or bottom surface of the main unit of the case. The disc case also includes a shutter installed on the case main unit to cover the support member access openings, the head access opening and the concave portion when the shutter is closed. The shutter opens to expose the support member access openings and the head access opening by sliding in at least one direction from the covered position along the front fringe portion of the case main unit. A shielding portion provided on the case main unit shields all or a part of the passages communicating with the accommodation chamber even when the shutter is closed.

Disc case

A disk cartridge of the present invention comprises a case body ( ) having a disk-storage portion and an opening/closing cover ( ) having a pair of disk holding members ( ) that hold a disk ( ) in its inplane direction. The accommodated disk ( ) is loaded together with the opening/closing cover ( ) into an adapter having compatibility with a large disk cartridge. Thus, information can be, for example, reproduced from the disk ( ) in a drive unit designed for a large disk cartridge via the adapter. Moreover, a series of operations can be conducted without touching the disk directly.

Disk cartridge and adapter

A disc cartridge in accordance with the present invention includes a disc holder for supporting a disc-shaped recording medium and a case defining a housing portion for receiving the disc holder and the recording medium. The case further includes a top portion, a bottom portion, and side portions surrounding the housing portion, the case allowing the disc holder to be inserted into and removed from the housing portion via an opening formed through the side portions. The disc holder includes a grip used for grasping the disc holder. Cuts are formed on the top and bottom portions of the case for exposing the grip when the disc holder is in the case. The grip engages the cuts to prevent the case from deforming outwardly when the disc holder is inserted into the case.

Disk cartridge and adapter with locking and misinsertion preventing mechanism for the cover

The present invention provides a cartridge accommodating a disk therein which is inserted into a cartridge holder, the cartridge holder being provided with a mis-insertion protection member. The mis-insertion protection member is located within an insertion path along which the cartridge is inserted into the cartridge holder. The cartridge has a substantially rectangular shape. The cartridge has a corner portion at each of four corners of the substantially rectangular shape, the corner portion being shaped so as to abut on the mis-insertion protection member to move the mis-insertion protection member out of the insertion path. The cartridge has at least two mis-insertion protection mechanisms for engaging with the mis-insertion protection member so as to prevent the cartridge from being mis-inserted. The cartridge has two side surfaces which are substantially perpendicular to a surface of the disk and extend along a direction substantially parallel to a direction in which the cartridge is inserted into the cartridge holder. A mis-insertion protection mechanism of the at least two mis-insertion protection mechanisms is provided on each of the side surfaces.

Disk cartridge

A disk cartridge of the present invention comprises a case body having a disk-storage portion and an opening/closing cover having a pair of disk holding members that hold a disk in its inplane direction. A grip of the opening/closing cover engages with a grip-guide part of the case body. They may be formed asymmetrically with respect to the center line of the opening/closing cover in its insertion direction, thus preventing the opening/closing cover from being inserted into the case body upside down.
