An update information providing server for providing data of an updated portion in map data composed of plural kinds of the data includes: a map data storage unit configured to store incremental update data of a difference between the data at a predefined time and newest data, and a data size of the incremental update data; an update request receiving unit configured to receive from a user terminal a map data update request including a capacity of a recording medium, and priority information for specifying a data kind of the data to be preferentially updated; an update order information making unit configured to make update order information; an update information transmission unit configured to extract the incremental update data from the storage unit, to make update information including the extracted incremental update data and the update order information, and to transmit the made update information to the user terminal.

A navigation device receives a differential map data from a map delivery server via a communication line. The map delivery server checks whether there is a new intersection on a navigation route searched by the navigation device after updating a map data. The navigation device acquires a differential map data containing the intersection from the map delivery server. Then, an update map data selection section determines whether the intersection can be updated in time. An update order determination section updates the differential map data which can be updated in time in ascending order of time required to reach the intersection.

The present invention discloses highly accurate driving control of a vehicle using map data. A car information system for controlling a driving control unit group is located in a vehicle. The car information system includes a map database for storing map data, a support area management table in which each kind of attribute data of the map data is associated with information for identifying a field-researched area, and a control unit for estimating an area through which the vehicle travels. The control unit uses a support area management table to judge whether attribute data included in the estimated area is associated with the support area.

Car information system, map server and on-board system

The present invention provides, in a car navigation system, a unit of notifying a user of the update contents of map data prior to the downloading of the map data. A vehicle-mounted terminal sets a difference update area in accordance with a selection made by a user and sends a difference update request to a map updating server. If an update mode in this case is 'update after outline display', the vehicle-mounted terminal downloads an outline update map from the map updating server. The outline update map is displayed on a display unit of a display. Here, when a download start button displayed on the display unit is depressed, the vehicle-mounted terminal downloads a detailed update map from the map updating server. The detailed update map is then displayed on the display unit of the display. Furthermore, an updating process is performed on the map data stored in a terminal DB.

Method of delivering difference map data

A disc cartridge includes a cartridge main body composed of a lower shell, in which a first opening that enables disc access for a disc-like recording medium in a housed state is formed, and an upper shell, a disc tray that is rotatably provided inside the cartridge main body and formed so that the recording medium can be mounted thereon, and a single shutter member disposed between the lower shell and the disc tray. A second opening, which enables disc access for the recording medium when the second opening overlaps the first opening in a thickness direction of the disc cartridge, is formed in the disc tray. The disc tray closes part of the first opening in a restricted state where the disc access is restricted, and is capable of opening the part of the first opening in a disc access state by being rotated inside the cartridge main body and causing the shutter member to slide. The shutter member closes another part of the first opening in the restricted state so as to close the first opening in concert with the disc tray, and in the disc access state the shutter member is caused to slide by the disc tray so as to be capable of opening the other part of the first opening.

Disc cartridge

A cartridge accommodates a recording medium etc, and includes an opening and a shutter for opening and closing the opening. The shutter surface is formed with a hole with which an external drive member engages for driving the shutter. An inner side peripheral surface of the hole, upon which at least the drive member impinges when opening and closing the opening, is constructed of a bending portion continuous from the shutter surface. The bending portion can be worked as a continuous surface by punching out a prepared hole so as to leave a portion corresponding to the bending portion and thereafter bending it. A resinous protection layer having a thickness more than 12 &mgr;m is provided on the shutter surface upon which the drive member impinges when engaging with the hole.

Cartridge and manufacturing method thereof

A disk cartridge has a casing composed of upper and lower casings which are adapted to rotatably receive therein a disk-like medium a shutter attached to the casing so as to open and shut openings for driving shaft insertion holes and magnetic head insertion holes formed in the upper and lower casings a disk-like medium taking-out port formed in the casing and a cover member for opening and closing the disk-like medium taking-out port wherein the cover member is disposed in the casing at a position opposing the shutter a disk-like medium placing portion is provided by forming tongue-like projections in the cover member to support the disk-like member from its lower surface side; the cover member is so arranged as to slide between the upper and lower casings whereby the disk-like member can be taken out by simply drawing the cover member from the disk-like medium taking-out port or the disk-like medium can be placed by simply inserting it, and operability in exchanging the disk-like medium can be done extremely well. The lower casing is so constructed that a recessed face portion for receiving the tongue-like projections formed in the cover member is formed in an inner face which opposes the disk-like medium whereby the strength of the casing can be well maintained; easy taking-out and insertion of the disk-like medium are permissible, and good operability of exchanging the disk-like medium is obtainable.

Disk cartridge

An improvement of a tape cartridge is characterized in that connecting plate parts having recesses, one for each, in the rear inner portions thereof facing the exposed tape portion. The recesses formed in the rear inner portions of the connecting plate parts are preferably bevels tapering rearwardly and outwardly, but they may take the form of steps instead.

Tape cartridge

A disk storage case comprising a main body and a cover body. The main body stores a disk-shaped medium therein and includes a bottom wall having a plurality of hold projections, side walls including extension portions extended therefrom, a front surface wall, and a back surface wall. The cover body includes a top wall, a pair of mutually opposing side walls, and a back surface wall, and the end portions of the pair of side walls of the cover body on the back surface wall side thereof is capable of being pivotally mounted on the extension portions to thereby mount the cover body on the main body in such a manner that the cover body can be opened and closed. The height of the back surface wall of the cover body is set substantially equal to the thickness of the disk storage case when the cover body is closed.

Disk storage case

A tape cartridge includes a pair of hubs and a casing. The respective hubs include respective drums for winding a tape-shaped medium thereon and respective cylinders with respective driving shaft insertion bores for accepting respective driving shafts of a recording/reproducing device. The hubs are rotatably supported in the a casing having upper and lower halves. The casing has driving shaft insertion holes formed therein so as to accept the respective driving shafts. The cartridge includes a slider for slidably covering the respective driving shaft insertion holes and a hub brake engageable with the respective hubs. The respective hubs have teeth provided on respective upper portions thereof so as to be engageable with the hub brake. Recesses are formed between the respective drums and the respective inner cylinders so as to have respective upper ends thereof opened. The respective drums have respective outer peripheral surfaces between adjoining teeth conformed to inner peripheral surfaces of the respective recesses. The respective teeth have a portion extending into the respective recesses.

A disc cartridge of a three-piece structure capable of being kept from being caught in an information recording/reproducing apparatus during loading/unloading thereof with respect to the apparatus. The disc cartridge includes an upper plate, a lower plate, and a center frame arranged between the upper plate and the lower plate, which are joined to each other to form a casing in which a disc-like medium is received. The upper plate defines the whole upper surface region of the disc cartridge, whereas the lower plate defines the whole lower surface region of the disc cartridge. The disc cartridge also includes an engaged structure in which an engagement structure of the information recording/reproducing apparatus is engagedly fitted. The engaged structure is constituted by only the lower plate.

Disc cartridge having reference holes

A disc cartridge capable of ensuring smooth sliding of a shutter on a casing while keeping a connection plate of the shutter from being abutted against or in contact with the casing, leading to a safe and increased-in-reliability sliding operation of the shutter. A lower plate of the shutter is provided with a holding pawl and a lower casing member is formed on an outer surface thereof with a slide groove, in which the holding pawl is slidably fitted. A side surface of the lower casing member on which the connection plate of the shutter is slid is outwardly projected beyond a side surface of an upper casing member on which the connection plate is likewise slid. Alternatively, the shutter is so formed that a bending angle between the lower plate and the connection plate is larger than that between an upper plate and the connection plate.

Disc cartridge and shutter

A disk storage case comprising a main body and a cover body. The main body is for storing a disk-shaped medium therein and includes a bottom wall. The cover body is mounted on the main body in such a manner that it can be freely opened and closed. The bottom wall of the main body includes hold projections and guide projections. The hold projections are integrally formed in the center portion of the bottom wall of the main body so as to be engageable with a center hole formed in the disk-shaped medium to thereby be able to hold the disk-shaped medium. The hold projections are arranged in an annular manner. The guide projections are respectively provided between the hold projections. Further, the guide projections are integrally formed in the bottom wall of the main body and higher than the hold projections. A slit is formed and surrounding a part of a root portion of each hold projection to thereby allow the hold projection to be deformed elastically.
