An embodiment of the invention is an optical node configured to transmit/receive a wavelength-division-multiplexed signal. An optical monitoring unit monitors power levels of the wavelength-division-multiplexed signal on a wavelength-by-wavelength basis to acquire wavelength-by-wavelength power level values of the optical signals. A comparison arithmetic unit performs a comparison between each of the acquired wavelength-by-wavelength power level values of the optical signals, and a predetermined upper limit value and a predetermined lower limit value. A target value calculation unit determines target values of power levels at wavelengths whose acquired power level values exceed the upper limit value to be values between a center value and the upper limit value, and determines target values of power levels at wavelengths whose acquired power level values fall below the lower limit value to be values between the center value and the lower limit value.

Optical transport system and optical node

An optical path changing member is assembled at ends of optical fibers and placed to face a substrate including an optical input/output terminal having optical axes inclined with respect to optical axes of the ends. The optical path changing member is made of a transparent material and includes a member body having a reflection surface for optically connecting the ends to the optical input/output terminal. The member body has optical fiber insertion holes and an end placement portion to which the insertion holes are open and in which the end faces of the optical fibers are placed. The reflection surface is formed so that light entering from the end faces of the optical fibers into the member body will be internally reflected toward the optical input/output terminal in the member body. The end placement portion is filled with an adhesive by which the ends are fixed to the member body.

Cover for covering a reflection-surface-formation recess of an optical path changing member

An optical connector, assembled to a front end of an optical fiber and attached to an optical component that is provided with an optical element having an optical axis different from that of the optical fiber, includes a main body having a connection end surface, and a reflective portion changing an angle of an optical path. At least one of a fitting protruding portion and a fitting recessed portion are provided so as to be capable of positioning the optical connector to the optical component by respectively fitting a fitted protruding portion and a fitted recessed portion provided on the optical component in each of a first region on the front end side and a second region on the opposite side thereto with the optical path interposed therebetween.

Optical connector

A connector holder fixes an optical connector assembled at a leading end of an optical fiber to an optical module having a light input/output end so that the optical fiber and the light input/output end is optically connected. The connector holder is provided with a holding section for storing at least a part of the optical connector, and a cover section attached to the holding section to be freely opened and closed. The cover section is provided with a cover section main body, and a pressing section which presses the optical connector toward the optical module.

Disclosed is an optical connector which terminates an optical fiber inside the optical connector. The optical connector includes a main body. The main body includes: a reflector for reflecting light; a groove portion formed in a top surface of the main body; an optical fiber insertion hole opened in the groove portion, the optical fiber being inserted in the optical fiber insertion hole; an optical fiber placement stage provided in the groove portion, a front end portion of the optical fiber being placed on the optical fiber placement stage. The groove portion includes the optical fiber insertion hole formed at a back inner surface of the groove. The optical fiber placement stage is formed by projecting from the side surface of the groove portion.

Optical connector with reflector

Disclosed is an optical connector which terminates an optical fiber inside the optical connector. The optical connector includes a main body. The main body includes: a reflector for reflecting light; a groove portion formed in a top surface of the main body; an optical fiber insertion hole opened in the groove portion, the optical fiber being inserted in the optical fiber insertion hole; an optical fiber placement stage provided in the groove portion, a front end portion of the optical fiber being placed on the optical fiber placement stage. The groove portion includes a front inner surface and a back inner surface which face each other in the longitudinal direction of the optical fiber insertion hole, and the optical fiber placement stage is separated away from the front and back inner surfaces.

Internal-reflection optical path changing member

An optical ferrule butt-connected in an optical adapter, includes: a ferrule main body; a connection end face in a front surface of the main body; a pair of grooves on the connection end face of the main body; guide pin insertion holes in bottom surfaces of the respective grooves; optical fiber insertion holes in the connection end face, the holes being arranged in a line; and foreign material collecting portions at least at a pair of corresponding sides of the connection end face. The groove has a width larger than a diameter of the guide pin insertion hole. The foreign material collecting portions respectively have a wall for connecting the connection end face with a side surface of the ferrule main body to form a space for collecting a foreign material with an opposite connection end face of a corresponding optical ferrule and an inner wall of the optical adapter.

Optical ferrule

There is provided a shutdown controller that monitors the temperature of an optical multiplexer and maximizes the loss of an optical attenuator when a temperature monitor result is abnormal. An optical level change detection circuit section is disposed with respect to an optical level monitor of individual monitors in an optical add/drop multiplexer. An optical level monitor of a total main signal is disposed downstream of the optical multiplexer. The inconsistency of the wavelength number is detected by comparing the total of the optical level monitors of the individual channels with the optical level value of the optical level monitor, upon which shutdown control is performed in which the loss of the optical attenuator is maximized in only the channel whose optical level change is detected by the optical level change detection circuit section.

Optical add/drop multiplexer

An optical connector fitted upon a tip end portion of an optical fiber ribbon and disposed to face an optical input and output terminators which are installed upon a substrate, and which optically connects between optical fibers of the optical fiber ribbon and each of the optical input and output terminators. The optical connector includes a block shaped connector main body which is disposed to face the optical input and output terminators. The connector main body includes a hollow optical fiber holding portion for holding mainly a coating portion of an optical fiber which is led generally in parallel with the surface of the substrate, a plurality of optical fiber apertures into which the tip end vicinity of the optical fibers are inserted and fixed and a concave spot for changing the optical axis comprising a reflective surface for changing the optical axis and formed in front of an exit of the optical fiber apertures, which causes the optical axis direction of the optical fiber to face the optical input and output terminators.

Optical transceiver and optical connector

In an optical connector with optical fibers in which silica glass optical fibers with resin coating layers remaining attached are connected in optical fiber openings of a ferrule made from resin, at least a part of the resin coating layer of the optical fiber is glued to an inner face of the optical fiber opening, an outer diameter of the resin coating layer of the optical fiber is less than or equal to 125 &#x3bc;m, and the Young's modulus of the resin coating layer is less than the Young's modulus of the ferrule, and the Young's modulus of the resin coating layer is 1500 to 10000 MPa.

Disclosed herein are a device and a method for an optical signal changeover that will not necessitate any addition to the capacity of the optical signal selection unit even when the N&#xd7;M optical switches are expanded in scale, but can keep the optical signal selection unit compact in size and enhance the reliability of the unit. The optical signals received from plural optical transmission lines are converted into predetermined wavelengths by the wavelength conversion unit based on the settings given from the system monitoring control unit. The converted optical signals are bifurcated by the optical bifurcating unit and inputted to the optical switches of the active system and the optical switches of the stand-by system. The optical signals outputted from the optical switches of the active system and from the optical switches of the stand-by system are wavelength-multiplexed by the wavelength multiplexer of the active system and the wavelength multiplexer of the stand-by system and inputted to the 2&#xd7;1 optical switches of the optical signal selection unit. The optical signal selection unit selects either of the inputted optical signals of the active system or of the stand-by system in accordance with the settings given by the monitoring control unit. The selected wavelength-multiplexed optical signals are demultiplexed by the wavelength demultiplexer into multi-channel optical signals for outputting.

Optical signal changeover device and optical signal changeover method

An optical connector of a fitting pin positioning type includes multiple optical fiber insertion holes arranged in one row and fitting holes or fitting pins. The fitting holes or the fitting pins for positioning are respectively disposed on mutually opposite sides of a straight line connecting centers of the optical fiber insertion holes and are located point-symmetrically with respect to a center of the row of the entire optical fiber insertion holes arranged on the straight line.
