A micro lens array sheet includes a sheet type base and a plurality of micro lenses arranged on the base. The surface of each micro lens includes a convex part and a peripheral edge part. The convex part has a spherical or elliptical surface. The peripheral edge part is formed between the convex part and the base and curved in a concave shape. Since the surface of the peripheral edge part is curved in a concave shape, the flat part can be narrower than a conventional micro lens array sheet. Therefore, luminance unevenness attributable to the flat part can be suppressed.

An optical sheet for a backlight is provided on a surface light source in the backlight. An optical reflection layer has a plurality of through grooves formed on a transparent substrate and arranged at a prescribed interval. The width of the through hole is narrowed from the upper surface opening to the lower surface opening. Each of the cylindrical lenses is filled within a corresponding through groove, and its surface is a cylindrical surface that covers the upper surface opening of the through groove. Light from the light source comes in only from the lower surface opening, so that the angle of incidence of light when the light reaches the cylindrical surface can be controlled, and an increased amount of light deflected toward the front surface can be emitted. Therefore, the optical sheet for a backlight can collect light from the surface light source in the front surface direction.

A lens sheet according to the invention includes a base film, a lenticular lens resin layer, a prism resin layer, and a filling resin layer. The lenticular lens resin layer includes a plurality of cylindrical lenses formed on one surface of the base film and arranged. The prism resin layer includes a plurality of prisms formed on the other surface of the base film and arranged, and has a lower refractive index than the refractive index of the base film. The filling resin layer is filled on a surface of the prism resin layer provided with the arranged prisms and has a higher refractive index than the refractive index of the prism resin layer. Therefore, the lens sheet according to the invention can restrain side lobe light emitted obliquely to the front surface.

An optical recording/ reproducing method which is characterized by irradiating a magnetic material having a perpendicular anisotropy with a laser beam to cause a change in the perpendicular anisotropy in the magnetic material to a non-perpendicular anisotropy thereby to record information; and by reproducing the information by detecting a change in a magneto-optic effect such as the Kerr effect.
