A nucleic acid refining apparatus, being ease in automation thereof, keeping high in contacting frequency between nucleic acid within a sample and a solid phase during nucleic acid capture processing, thereby proving high capturing rate, comprises: means for separating a liquid containing the nucleic acid therein from said sample through centrifugal force; means for transferring a reagent through the centrifugal force; means for producing a mixture liquid of said reagent transferred through the centrifugal force and a solution containing said nucleic acid therein; a carrier for capturing said nucleic acid; means for transferring said mixture liquid to said carrier through the centrifugal force; heating means for heating said carrier; and a holding means for separating and holding the reagent containing said nucleic acid eluting from said carrier, separating from other reagent, through different centrifugal.

A centrifugal separator of the invention has a centrifugal rotor ( - ), with symmetric rotation axes, having single sample separation chamber in it for centrifuging samples contained in sample solutions, an upper opening passing through to said sample separation chamber in the upper part, members of frameworks capable of being coupled to said upper opening, a rotation driving means, assuming that the direction of said symmetric rotation axis is the first direction, for driving said centrifugal rotor around said rotation axis in the first direction, wherein assuming that two directions intersecting with said first direction are the second and third directions, the length of said sample preparation chamber in said third direction is longer than the length of said sample preparation chamber in said second direction. Composite particles formed from resin particles and silica particles (amount of silica particles: 0.2 to 10 wt. % on the basis of the resin particles) in an apparatus for formation of composite particles are placed in a PTFE mold and heat treated to weld the resin particles to one another, thereby forming a structural element, which is dipped in an ethyl silicate solution containing monodispersed silica particles, then taken out of the solution and subjected to further heat treatment to form an ultimate structural element, which is sealed in a tip case, whereby a tip can be produced at a low cost and used to separate nucleic acid from a liquid sample for a short time at a high recovery rate without any defects such as breaking, etc.

A thixotropic material is charged in a container. The container also holds a movable member which is placed in the thixotropic material so as to stir the thixotropic material. A force transmitting element is connected to the movable member. When an object, the vibration of which is to be controlled, is out of resonance, the amplitude of vibration is so small that the thixotropic material is in a gel state, thus presenting a comparatively large spring constant for the vibration control apparatus. As the excitation frequency is increased towards the resonance range, the amplitude of vibration is increased correspondingly, so that the movable member stirs the thixotropic material to generate stress in the latter, whereby the phase of the thixotropic material is changed from gel to sol. Consequently, the natural frequency of the vibration system, including the object and the vibration control apparatus, is lowered, thus averting resonance. It is thus possible to obtain vibration restraining or control effect over a wide range of excitation frequencies.
