A compact-size variable resistance device has a terminal for electrical connection to an external device, a resistor that slidingly contacts with a brush, and connecting parts formed of an electro-conductive resin containing a thermoplastic resin. The electro-conductive resin connecting parts readily make reliable electrical interconnection of the terminal and the resistor when the connecting parts are joined by, for example, ultrasonic bonding.

Variable resistance device

A variable resistor includes a first housing, a second housing formed of resin and having a connector part and a circuit board whose surface has an electrode and a resistance pattern thereon. A metallic terminal is molded in the second housing as one body and a brush is mounted on a moving member and is disposed in sliding engagement with the resistance pattern. An end of the terminal is in contact with the electrode on the surface of the circuit board and the other end of the terminal is disposed in the connector part.

Variable resistor

During plural rotations of the the first potentiometer as a result of the operation of a steering wheel, though a specific position of the first potentiometer corresponds to plural rotation angles or rotation numbers of the steering wheel, the correct, real or current rotational angle or rotational number of the steering wheel can be obtained by knowing a one-to-one correspondence between a specific position of the second potentiometer and the reduced rotational angle of the steering wheel.

Sensor for detecting steering angle

A slide rheostat type linear characteristic sensor includes a detecting resistor R2 printed on a substrate 8. A brush 7 slides on the detecting resistor R2. Clamping resistors R1 and R3 are printed, simultaneously with the detecting resistor, on the substrate 8 at positions separate from a sliding area of the brush 7. The clamping resistors R1 and R3 are made of the same material as the detecting resistor R2.

Slide rheostat type linear characteristic sensor

The potentiometer includes a ground terminal 1, a power terminal 2, a resistive element 4 provided between the ground terminal 1 and the power terminal 2, a sliding portion 18 for sliding on the resistive element 4, an output terminal 3 for obtaining the output in response to the position of the sliding portion 18, a reference voltage terminal 5 provided on a reference position RP where a reference voltage Vref should be generated, and a power supply 6 for applying the reference voltage Vref to the reference voltage terminal 5. The reference voltage terminal 5 is provided on the reference position RP where the reference voltage Vref should be generated. The reference voltage Vref is sustained at the reference position RP, because the power supply 6 applies the reference voltage Vref from the reference voltage terminal 5 to the resistive element 4. The offset can be adjusted rapidly due to the regulated voltage at the reference position RP in spite of a productive variation of the resistive element 4. The control system can be stabilized due to the regulated voltage at the reference position RP.

Potentiometer

A control system for a variable displacement engine for an automobile changes a number of the cylinders of the engine when an engine load changes. The system sets an amendment value to a throttle valve opening in accordance with a throttle valve opening and an engine revolution. The system controls the throttle valve before the system changes a number of the cylinders. Thus the throttle valve is controlled to obtain the same torque before and after the change of the number of the cylinders.

Control device for a variable displacement engine

A throttle control apparatus includes an accelerator operation mechanism, a throttle shaft, a driving source, an electromagnetic clutch mechanism, driving control means, accelerator operational amount detecting means, accelerator abnormality detecting means, throttle valve opening amount detecting means, throttle abnormality detecting means, valve abnormality detecting means and clutch control means. The accelerator abnormality detecting means judge the abnormality of the accelerator operational amount detecting means and the throttle abnormality detecting means judge the abnormality of the throttle valve opening amount detecting means. Furthermore, the valve abnormality detecting means judge the operation of the throttle control as abnormality when the amount of the throttle valve opening is more than a prescribed value under the condition which the operational amount of the accelerator operation amount is less than a prescribed value. As a result of abnormality judgments of these three kinds, when at least one of them is judged as abnormality, the electromagnetic clutch mechanism is driven by the clutch control means so as to separate the driving source from the throttle shaft.

Throttle control apparatus

A rotational type variable resistor includes a base plate having an arcuate resistance element and an arcuate electrode formed on one surface thereof. A shaft adapted to be connected to the control member is rotatably mounted in the housing and carries a pair of brushes which are disposed in sliding engagement with the resistance member and the electrode. The resistance element is formed from a first resistance layer deposited on the base plate between a pair of copper foil electrodes. A silver paste is disposed between the copper foil electrodes and the opposite ends of the first resistance layer and a second resistance layer is formed which completely overlies the first resistance layer and the copper foil electrodes. The arcuate electrode includes a first layer of copper foil disposed on the surface of the substrate. A silver paste is coated on the upper surface of the copper foil and a third resistance layer is disposed on the surface of the silver paste, and a fourth resistance layer covers the third resistance layer. The resistivity of the first and third layers differs from the resistivity of the second and fourth layers.

Rotational type variable resistor

A variable resistor having a switching function includes a base plate, a first electrode formed on the base plate, a second electrode formed on the base plate, a third electrode formed on the base plate, and a fourth electrode formed on the base plate simultaneously with the formation of the second electrode. A resistive element connects electrically the first and the second electrodes, a first switching element is provided and includes two brushes which slide on the surfaces of the third electrode and the resistive element, respectively. A second switching element is movable together with the first switching element and includes two brushes which slide on the surfaces of the first electrode and the fourth electrode, respectively.

Variable resistor with switching mechanism

A throttle sensor for an internal combustion engine includes a circuit board and a rotatable body disposed adjacent the circuit board which is connected to the throttle valve and having a pair of brushes disposed in sliding contact with the circuit board. A resistance body, including a basic resistance layer and a protective resistance layer covering a basic resistance layer are formed on the circuit board for engagement by one of the brushes, and a collecting body, including an electric conductive layer and an additional protective resistance layer covering the electric conductive layer is formed on the circuit board for engagement by the other brush. The protective resistance layers protect the basic resistance layers against undue wear and atmospheric conditions.

Throttle sensor for an internal combustion engine

A tilt sensor for a vehicle steering shaft includes a base resistive element layer formed in an opposed contact with a base plate surface. A plural layer structure is provided with a protective resistive element layer constructed by at least one layer formed on the base resistive element layer and an uppermost layer of the volume inherent reistance of the protective resistive element layer is higher than the volume inherent resistance of the base resistive element layer. The volume inherent resistance of the protective resistive element layer is from 2 to 500 times the volume inherent resistance of the base resistive element layer.

Tilt sensor for vehicle steering shaft

A connection construction of a turning angle detector which comprises a lever in the form of a large-diameter member secured to a shaft to be detected and extending in the radial direction of the shaft to be detected, a pin secured at right angles to the lever, a connection shaft projecting outward from a boss portion of the turning angle detector and having a large-diameter portion larger than the diameter of the boss portion, and a pinching portion for pinching the pin in the large-diameter portion of the connection shaft so that the pin is movable in the radial direction and axial direction within its pinched range, but its movement in the circumferential direction is restricted, wherein the rotation of the shaft to be detected is transmitted to the connection shaft of the turning angle detector, whereby an error arising at the time of assembly can be absorbed by the space between the pinching portion and the pin to make easy the process of assembly, and it is possible to configure mutually tightly the connection shaft and the boss portion for supporting rotatably the connection shaft; thus, infiltration of water and the like can be prevented.

Connection construction of turning angle detector

A pressure switch comprising a housing, a diaphragm that divides the inside of the housing into a pressure chamber and an atmospheric chamber, a switch portion mounted in the atmospheric chamber, and a resilient cap fitted over the housing. A porous filter is held between the housing and the cap. The diaphragm is actuated according to the difference between the pressures inside the chambers. The switch portion consists of a movable contact and a fixed contact, and is connected to terminals.

A magnetic sensing device which includes a reed switch installed in a housing of synthetic resin and electrically connected with an automobile body. The device further includes a metal plate member having a projection fitted into the housing, the reed switch being electrically connected with a control circuit at a first end thereof and which is electrically connected with the metal plate member at a second end thereof, and a mechanism for grounding current from the reed switch to a portion of an automobile body through the metal plate member.
