To provide a composition for a wire coating member containing a non-crosslinked material at a low cost, which has superior flame retardancy, and is excellent in heat resistance, wear resistance and flexibility, and to provide an insulated wire and a wiring harness containing the composition. The composition contains (A) polypropylene, (B) a polyolefin elastomer, (C) a bromine flame retardant, (D) an antimony trioxide, (E) magnesium hydroxide, either one of (F) (F1) a zinc sulfide and (F2) a zinc oxide and (F3) mercaptobenzimidazole, and (G) a hindered phenolic antioxidant. The insulated wire includes a conductor and an insulation coat made from the composition, wherein the insulation coat has a thickness of 0.5 mm or less, and the insulated wire has an external diameter of 4 mm or less. The wiring harness includes the insulated wire.

Composition for wire coating member, insulated wire, and wiring harness

An insulated wire including a conductor, an inside coat of one or more layers arranged to cover the conductor, and an outside coat arranged to cover the outermost layer of the inside coat, wherein at least the layer of the inside coat which is in contact with the conductor is made from an olefin resin including a functional group, and the outside coatis made from a non-halogenous flame-retardant resin composition. The functional group is preferably one or more groups selected from a carboxylic acid group, an acid anhydrous group, an epoxy group, a hydroxyl group, an amino group, an alkenyl cyclic imino ether group, and a silane group.

Insulated wire and a wiring harness

A wire covering material composition which is systematically different from a polyolefin resin composition and which possesses favorable flame retardancy, tensile elongation and wear resistance, having 100 parts by weight of a polymer blend containing 40-95 wt % of polybutylene terephthalate, and 1 to 30 parts by weight of a phosphoric ester compound with respect to 100 parts by weight of the polymer blend, wherein 5 to 100 wt % of the total content of the polybutylene terephthalate in the polymer blend is made up of polybutylene terephthalate, whose molecular weight distribution Mw/Mn (where Mw: weight-average molecular weight; Mn: number-average molecular weight) is greater than or equal to 2.5.

Wire covering material composition, an insulated wire and a wiring harness

An insulated wire possessing preferable flame retardancy, water resistance and wear resistance. The insulated wire including an insulator layer made from a composition including 96 to 44 parts by weight of (A) a polyester type resin, 4 to 56 parts by weight of (B) a polyphenylene ether type resin, 1 to 70 parts by weight of (C) one or more than one sort of polymer selected from the group consisting of a styrene type polymer, an olefin type polymer including a functional group, and a polymer including an ester group with respect to 100 parts by weight of (A) the polyester type resin and (B) the polyphenylene ether type resin, and 1 to 50 parts by weight of (D) a phosphoester compound with respect to 100 parts by weight of (A) the polyester type resin and (B) the polyphenylene ether type resin.

A halogen-free light-weighted coated electric wire has a conductor and a coating layer covering the outer circumference of the conductor. The coating layer includes an outer layer having a halogen-free resin composition and Shore D hardness of 50 or above and an inner layer having an olefin based flame retardant composition. A total thickness of the coating layer is 0.3 mm or less
