An electrolytic capacitor includes a capacitor element having a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a solid organic conductive material disposed between the positive and the negative electrode, an electrolyte, a case for accommodating the capacitor element and the electrolyte, and a sealing member disposed to cover the opening of the case. The solid organic conductive material has at least one material selected from organic semiconductor and conductive polymer. The electrolytic capacitor having excellent impedance characteristic, small current leak, excellent reliability, and high dielectric strength.

Electrolytic capacitor and its manufacturing method

The present invention provides a highly conductive separator of which surface is coated with conductive polymer molecules, and provides an electrolytic capacitor having a low ESR characteristic using the separator. The conductive separator is formed by sticking the conductive polymer molecules to an insulating separator substrate by chemical oxidative polymerization, and the stuck amount of the conductive polymer molecules per basis weight of the separator substrate is set in the range of 3 to 30 g/m. Conductive polymer molecules that are hardly de-doped can be formed in the electrolyte for driving by chemical oxidative polymerization, so that an electrolytic capacitor having high capacitance and low ESR can be obtained.

An object of the present invention is to provide a separator which is excellent in sticking and adhesion capability with the solid electrolyte, physically strong and highly heat-resistive and to provide a solid electrolyte condenser which is excellent in the impedance characteristic and leak current characteristic. The present invention relates to a solid electrolytic capacitor having a large capacitance and a higher resistance to heat and adapted as a surface-mount device and a method of producing the same. The invention may include the followings features: (1) a layer containing an electroconductive polymer and a less conductive polymer is provided on a dielectric oxide film on the positive electrode foil; (2) a separator of a polyester resin based unwoven fabric made by span bonding and/or wet processing a resin material is sandwiched between the positive electrode foil and the negative electrode foil and rolled together to form a capacitor element which also include a solid electrolyte; (3) a separator is sandwiched between the positive electrode foil and the negative electrode foil coated with a dielectric oxide film exhibiting a withstand voltage of 0.8 to 10 V and rolled together to form a capacitor element which also include a solid electrolyte of an electrically conductive polymer; (4) the negative electrode foil is coated with a layer made of at least a metallic material selected from titanium, zirconium, hafnium, and its compound or of a carbon material; (5) the capacitor element has its content of, water adjusted to not higher than 1% by weight and is enclosed in an outer case; (6-A) the solid electrolyte is a conductive polymer prepared by chemically polymerizing a heterocyclic monomer with the use of an oxidizing solution of which the weight ratio of bivalent iron to trivalent iron is not higher than 0.02; (6-B) the solid electrolyte is a conductive polymer prepared by chemically polymerizing a heterocyclic monomer with the use of an oxidizing solution of which the molar ratio of aliphatic and/or aromatic sulfonic acid to trivalent iron ranges from 3.0 to 3.5; and (7) the solid electrolyte is a conductive polymer prepared by chemically polymerizing a heterocyclic monomer in which the remaining of a basic organic solvent is not higher than 0.8%.

Solid electrolytic capacitor and production method thereof, and conductive polymer polymerizing oxidizing agent solution

A conductive high polymer layer as an electrolyte is formed on the entire surface of fine pores of a dielectric oxide layer of an anode electrode having an undulated surface of fine pores or the like. As a result, a solid electrolytic capacitor having characteristics such as capacitance, impedance, and leak current exactly as designed will be obtained. It comprises a manganese dioxide layer composed of a porous sinter of valve metal or roughened meal foil, placed continuously on the entire surface of the undulated surface of a dielectric oxide layer of an anode electrode having an undulated surface, a conductive high polymer layer formed by electrolytic polymerization, in contact with the surface of the manganese dioxide layer, and a cathode electrode placed on this conductive high polymer layer.

Solid electrolytic capacitor and method of manufacturing the same

A conductive high polymer layer as an electrolyte is formed on the entire surface of fine pores of a dielectric oxide layer of an anode electrode having an undulated surface of fine pores or the like. As a result, a solid electrolytic capacitor having characteristics such as capacitance, impedance, and leak current exactly as designed will be obtained. It includes a manganese dioxide layer composed of a porous sinter of valve metal or roughened meal foil, placed continuously on the entire surface of the undulated surface of a dielectric oxide layer of an anode electrode having an undulated surface, a conductive high polymer layer formed by electrolytic polymerization, in contact with the surface of the manganese dioxide layer, and a cathode electrode placed on this conductive high polymer layer.

The present invention provides a highly reliable aluminum electrolytic capacitor which has no flash point and shows little change or degradation in external appearance and properties. The water content of electrolytic solution of the electrolytic capacitor of this invention is 20-90 wt % and one or more following compounds are included as main electrolytes in the electrolytic solution; ammonium formate, ammonium acetate, ammonium lactate, ammonium glycolate, ammonium oxalate, ammonium succinate, ammonium malonate, ammonium adipate, ammonium benzoate, ammonium glutarate, and ammonium azelate. The electrolytic solution also contains not less than 1 wt % of one or more compounds selected from organic carboxylic acids with a particular structure and ammonium salts of these organic acids. The melting point of the electrolytic solution is &minus;10&deg; C. and below, the chlorine content of a sealing material of the capacitor is not more than 300 ppm to the weight of the sealing material. The impedance ratio of 20&deg; C. to &minus;10&deg; C. at 100 kHz of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor is 4 or less. The present invention can provide a highly reliable aluminum electrolytic capacitor of rated voltage of under 100V, which achieves superior impedance and low temperature properties, and has little risk of ignition even when the electrolytic solution is released.

An electrochemical device of the present invention includes: a main body formed by rolling up an anode foil, a cathode foil and a separator disposed therebetween, each of the anode foil and the cathode foil having a lead wire connected thereto, wherein the main body is impregnated with an electrolytic solution; a tubular case having a bottom surface for accommodating the main body; and a seal for sealing an opening of the tubular case, which includes a through hole for the lead wire to pass therethrough. The electrolytic solution contains about 5 to about 100 parts by weight of a quaternary salt of a compound having an alkyl-substituted amidine group as an electrolyte with respect to 100 parts by weight of an organic solvent containing at least one of &ggr;-butyrolactone and propylene carbonate. The seal is an elastic body containing a butyl rubber polymer which is a copolymer of isobutylene, isoprene and divinylbenzene, and a peroxide as a vulcanizing agent. At least a portion of the seal has a hardness of about 65 International Rubber Hardness Degrees.

An electrochemical device of the present invention includes: a main body formed by rolling up an anode foil, a cathode foil and a separator disposed therebetween, each of the anode foil and the cathode foil having a lead wire connected thereto, wherein the main body is impregnated with an electrolytic solution; a tubular case having a bottom surface for accommodating the main body; and a seal for sealing an opening of the tubular case, which includes a through hole for the lead wire to pass therethrough. The electrolytic solution contains about 5 to about 100 parts by weight of a quaternary salt of a compound having an alkyl-substituted amidine group as an electrolyte with respect to 100 parts by weight of an organic solvent containing at least one of &ggr;-butyrolactone and propylene carbonate. The seal is an elastic body containing a butyl rubber polymer which is a copolymer of isobutylene and isoprene, and an alkylphenol formalin resin as a vulcanizing agent. At least a portion of the seal has a hardness of about 75 International Rubber Hardness Degrees.

The present invention relates to an electrolyte for use in electronic components and electrolytic capacitors in which said electrolyte is used; including as a solute, a quaternary salt of a compound having a N,N,N'-substituted amidine group, such as 1-methylimidazole, 1-methylbenzoimidazole, 1,2-dimethylimidazoline, 1,2-dimethyl-1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin e, 1,8-diazabicyclo�5.4.0!undecene-7,1,5-diazabicyclo �4.3.0!nonene-5 and the like. The electronic components such as electrolytic capacitors and electrochromic display devices, using this electrolyte, have an excellent thermostability, high specific conductivity, and do not degrade or corrode metal, resin or rubber.
