A banknote pay-in/pay-out device and a banknote processing machine having a simpler pay-in/pay-out port section mechanism than hitherto. During paying in, out of banknotes inserted into a pay-in/pay-out port section, a pay-in reject banknote that has been determined to be unsuitable for paying in is conveyed to a sorting conveyance path, and temporarily retained in the sorting conveyance path. So doing enables, for example, the pay-in reject banknote to be temporarily retained in the sorting conveyance path until, for example, pay-in counting processing has been completed, with the pay-in reject banknote being replaced in the pay-in/pay-out port section to be returned to a user after the pay-in counting processing has been completed, without providing a partitioning plate to the pay-in/pay-out port section as hitherto.

The present invention provides a banknote deposit and withdrawal device including: a verification section that verifies banknotes inserted through a service aperture for performing a transaction of banknotes; a serial number acquisition section that acquires serial numbers of the banknotes; a control section that controls conveyance of the banknotes in the device; and a memory section that, for each of one or plural storage cassettes in which the banknotes are stored in the device, memorizes the serial numbers of banknotes stored in the storage cassette and memorizes a storage sequence of the banknotes as administration information, wherein the control section conveys a banknote to a corresponding storage cassette, on the basis of a result of verification, and records the serial number of the banknote and the storage sequence of the banknote in the storage cassette in the memory section as administration information.

A media processor is provided with includes a conveyance channel over which a paper sheet-like medium is conveyed, and an accumulation mechanism which accumulates the medium sent from the conveyance channel, the accumulation mechanism including a guide member for guiding and accumulating the medium sent from the conveyance channel and a conveyor for catching the medium guided by the guide member against the guide member to draw the medium onto the guide member. It is thus possible to shorten times required for the preparing operation to accumulate bills and for the bill accumulating operation, and further to prevent mechanical malfunction such as bill jamming from occurring.

Media processor

A bill receiving and dispensing device cooperates with a bill cassette, when the bill receiving and dispensing device is replenished with bills or when bills are collected from it, in such a manner that cash is not exposed to the public eye. At the time of replenishment of bills, the bill cassette, in which a fixed number of sheets of bills are accommodated, is received at an inlet/outlet opening of the bill receiving and dispensing device, and the bills within the bill cassette are inserted into the device by a manual operation. The inserted bills are accommodated in a bill accommodation box based on the result of determinations made in a discriminating portion. At the time of collecting bills, an empty bill cassette is received at the inlet/outlet opening and bills are drawn out from the bill accommodation box and are transferred to the bill cassette.

Bill receiving and dispensing device

An automatic teller machine managing system includes an automatic teller machine and a carrier for exchanging a medium, such as, paper money, with the automatic teller machine. The system further includes a mechanism for moving the carrier relative to the automatic teller machine, and a coupling unit which is movably arranged and couples the carrier and the automatic teller machine with each other. In the system, the medium is carried one by one, via the coupling unit, from the carrier to the automatic teller machine or from the automatic teller machine to the carrier.
