It is an exemplified object of the present invention to provide an optical unit that can easily and inexpensively align an optical axis of the lens and a beam from a light source during continuous operation, and to provide an electrophotographic recording device that has such an optical unit and thereby can form a high-quality latent image on a photosensitive body. The optical unit as an exemplified embodiment of the present invention is configured to have the optical axis of the lens and a mounting position thereof substantially aligned with each other, and thus reduce or eliminate a misalignment of the optical axis with the light source and lens even if temperature rises.

The present invention aims at providing an optical unit, its manufacturing method, and electrophotographic device that can easily and inexpensively achieve a reliable latent image formation on a photosensitive drum, and can form a high-quality image. To realize the above aims, a lens barrel and a collimating lens are bonded only at a single spot, and the bonding orientation is aligned approximately with a main scanning direction. Thereby displacement of the collimating lens caused by a thermal expansion of the adhesive is restricted to the main scanning direction as adjustable by other components.

An image forming apparatus includes a plurality of light sources emitting beams of light, a photoconductor, a scanner for reflecting the beams of light emitted by the light sources to scan the photoconductor periodically, a light detector for receiving the beams of light from the scanner to determine a beam pitch between the beams of light, the light detector being provided in a part of an optical path between the scanner and the photoconductor, a beam shifter for shifting the beams of light incident on the scanner from the light sources, and a controller for operating the beam shifter so that the beam pitch determined by the light detector becomes a predetermined value.

Image forming apparatus

A light source package includes a light source, a lens for collimating the light from the light source, and a support member for supporting the light source and the lens so that the optical axis of the lens is set to a desired position relative to the light source. The support member includes a compensating device for compensating the lens for deviation of the optical axis of the lens resulting from a difference in the coefficients of linear thermal expansion between the lens and the support member when the ambient temperature changes.
