A rubber mount includes a cylindrical rubber member () formed with an annular groove () to engage a component part () to be supported, and a threaded bolt () passed through a central axial bore () of the rubber member and having a threaded part () in a forward end thereof to be threaded into a base member (). The intermediate part is provided with a larger diameter than the threaded part, and a pair of annular grooves () are formed on an outer circumferential surface of the intermediate part. The rubber member is axially compressed by the head () of the threaded bolt when the threaded bolt is fully threaded into the hole. The rubber mount consists a small number of component parts, and is easy to install, but is still able to firmly support the component part and provide a favorable vibration insulation capability.

A falling-off preventing holder is provided to reliably connect a fuel pipe and a connector. First and second flanges project outwardly from an outer peripheral surface of the fuel pipe. The connector includes a larger diameter portion and a smaller diameter portion connected to the larger diameter portion via a step portion. A box-shaped falling-off preventing holder with an open surface is fitted to straddle the fuel pipe and the connector. First cutout of first end wall is fitted on the smaller diameter portion of the connector and abuts the step portion. Second end wall is fitted on the fuel pipe to abut the second flange. A pressure rib provided at the first end wall of the falling-off preventing holder is compressed by the step portion of the connector to be plastically deformed. A load in the connecting direction acting on the fuel pipe and the connector enables reliable connection.

A suction apparatus of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine has a suction manifold disposed in a direction parallel with a row of cylinders at one side of a cylinder head. The suction apparatus includes a plurality of independent suction passages of equal length each extending from an engine main body at right angle, a suction gathering chamber connected to the suction passages and disposed in the direction parallel with the row of cylinders, a throttle body provided at an upper stream end of the suction gathering chamber, and a resonance vessel communicating with the suction gathering chamber. The resonance vessel is supported by a cylinder head cover and a wall of the gathering chamber elastically through rubber members covering above of the independent suction passages with a space, and communicates with an upper part of the suction gathering chamber at a just downstream position of the throttle body. The space has a volume capable of receiving at least fuel injection valves and fuel supply pipes for respective cylinders of the internal combustion engine.

Suction apparatus of multi-cylinder internal combustion engine

In a valve operating system for an internal combustion engine that includes a valve operation mode changing mechanism capable of changing at least one of either the lift amount of opening of an engine valve openably and closably carried in an engine body or the opening or closing timing in accordance with a variation in hydraulic pressure supplied to the changing mechanism. A selector valve is provided and includes a valve element slidably received in a housing attached to the engine body to change the supply of hydraulic pressure to the valve operation mode changing mechanism. The housing of the selector valve is provided with a working oil chamber which receives an oil pressure for driving, toward a position to supply a higher hydraulic pressure to the valve operation mode changing mechanism, a valve element biased toward a position to supply a lower hydraulic pressure to the valve operation mode changing mechanism. The working oil chamber is connected through a leak jet to a drain chamber provided in the engine body. The leak jet permits the hydraulic pressure to be quickly released from the working oil chamber when the valve element of the selector valve is driven to block the communication between the hydraulic pressure supply source and the valve operation mode changing mechanism, thereby leading to a quick changing operation of the valve operation mode changing mechanism.

A method of indicating when a shift operation of a manual gearbox is to be preformed includes a step for comparing a detected vehicle speed with a reference vehicle speed which is determined and changed on the basis of a detected engine operational parameter and a step for indicating that the shift operation should be performed on the basis of a result of the comparison. The reference vehicle speed is corrected to a lower speed in response to an increase of a total running time of the vehicle, thereby to maintain the driveability of the vehicle when the running time of the vehicle is short.

An air-fuel ratio control system for an internal combustion engine, including an oxygen concentration sensor producing an output signal whose level is substantially proportional to an oxygen concentration of the exhaust gas, effects a feedback control of the air-fuel ratio of mixture to be supplied to the engine toward a target value determined on the basis of various parameters of the engine operation and corrected in response to a magnitude of atmospheric pressure, so that the target air-fuel ratio is made lean as the magnitude of the atmospheric pressure decreases. Thus, the reduction of the engine output power and the increase of the fuel comsumption which have been encountered in conventional systems are prevented.

An air intake side secondary air supply system for an internal combustion engine having an air intake side secondary air supply passage and an O.sub.2 sensor controls a duty ratio of opening and closing of an open/close valve disposed in the air intake side secondary air supply passage in accordance with a detected air-fuel ratio of mixture by means of an output signal of the O.sub.2 sensor. The system sets a base valve open period of the open/close valve every predetermined period and decreases the base valve open period by a first predetermined correction amount when the detected air-fuel ratio is leaner than a target air-fuel ratio, and increases the base valve open period by a second predetermined correction amount when the detected air-fuel ratio is richer than the target air-fuel ratio.
