A circumferentially elongated flat recessed portion () is formed in the outer edge surface (-) of a spectacle lens (). The distal end of a lens holding portion () is bent in a J shape to form an insertion portion (A). The insertion portion (A) is inserted into the recessed portion () and fixed in position using an adhesive (). Thus, the spectacle lens () can be reliably held by the lens holding portion () with strong bonding between the spectacle lens () and the lens holding portion () free from the possibility of a reduction in bonding strength or fall-off upon twisting.

This is an eyeglasses made-to-order system wherein an operator determines eyeglass specifications necessary for ordering eyeglasses, including necessary items relating to each structural member of the eyeglasses, with an interactive system using means including a computer-controlled display screen; wherein any of a plurality of types of basic frame designs prepared in advance is selected from the abovementioned display screen; and the optimum eyeglass specifications reflecting the consumer's preferences can be determined on and ordered from the display screen by arbitrary changes to the structural members of the eyeglasses, including frame type, lens shape, and parts, based on the selected basic frame design. A frame for rimless spectacles is provided which has no protuberances projecting from both surfaces of lenses, provides an improved effective field of view, and can be fabricated with ease. Blind holes are formed in nose- and temple-side edge surface portions of each spectacle lens, respectively. A pin-like projection is formed on each of nose-side and temple-side contact plates, and is inserted and fixed in the corresponding blind hole by using an adhesive.
