A composite material member having an FRP layer made of fiber-reinforced plastic, and a resin-rich layer that has a fiber content that is 5% or less of the fiber content of the FRP layer. The resin-rich layer is formed in at least a partial region of a surface of the FRP layer, and is formed from the same resin as a matrix resin of the fiber-reinforced plastic. A hole is bored so as to penetrate the FRP layer and the resin-rich layer.

An energy absorption structure has a frame member of a vehicle body framework, an energy absorption member formed from fiber-reinforced resin and a load-receiving member. The energy absorption member is provided at an end of the frame member in the front-rear direction of the vehicle body. The load-receiving member is provided on the energy-absorbing member on a side opposite to the frame member. A tearing element is provided adjacent an end portion of the energy-absorbing member corresponding to at least one of the load-receiving member and the frame member. The tearing element tears the energy-absorbing member due to an impact load that is inputted from the load-receiving member toward the energy-absorbing member, thereby severing the reinforcing fibers.

Energy absorption structure

A vehicle body lower structure includes a side sill, a center tunnel, a floor panel disposed between the side sill and the center tunnel, a first frame member connected to a front side member, and a second frame member connected to the front side member. The first frame member extends obliquely such that, as the first frame member extends further rearward, the first frame member extends further outward in a vehicle width direction. The second frame member is connected to the side sill. The second frame member extends obliquely such that, as the second frame member extends further rearward, the second frame member extends further inward in the vehicle width direction. The second frame member is connected to the center tunnel. One of the first frame member and the second frame member is provided on an upper surface of the floor panel.

A vehicle door structure includes a reinforcing member that is extended along a side sill on an inner door panel side of a lower portion of an outer door panel. A composite material structure is provided a metal member and a resin member. The metal member is formed in a planar shape that has a main surface. The resin member is bonded to the main surface of the metal member. The metal member has a thermal expansion coefficient in a first direction along the main surface is larger than a thermal expansion coefficient in a second direction along the main surface. The second direction is orthogonal to the first direction. The resin member is formed of a fiber-reinforced resin having a fiber quantity in the second direction that is larger than a fiber quantity in the first direction.

An opening portion which establishes communication between the vehicle compartment and the trunk is formed in the plate-shaped main body. The fiber assembly is disposed along a peripheral edge portion of the opening portion. A space is provided between the first plate member and the second plate member. An intermediate member is interposed in the space.
