A connecting terminal has a rectangular tube-like connecting portion including a bottom plate, and a first side plate. A movable contact strip is secured to the bottom plate at a base portion. The movable contact strip is bent into a shape of a mountain. An apex of the mountain constitutes a contact portion. Prior to the formation of the connecting portion, the movable contact strip is folded over the bottom plate. An elongated strip portion of the bottom plate is cut and bent inwardly to form a reinforcing strip. A rear end of the movable contact strip is connected to the bottom plate. A free front end of the reinforcing strip is urged against a lower surface of the contact portion. At a front end of the connecting portion, a guide strip is formed by folding back a front end portion of the bottom plate.

Connecting terminal

A connecting terminalhas a rectangular tube-like connecting portionformed at a front side for receiving a cooperating tang-like connecting terminal and a U-shaped core conductor clamping portionand a U-shaped sheath clamping portionat a rear side. In front of the core conductor clamping portionnear the connecting portionthere are formed plate-like locking stripsto extend in a longitudinal direction in an upright fashion. A top portion' of the core conductor clamping portionis coupled substantially linearly with top portions&#x2032; of the locking stripsby means of coupling portionsto reinforce a root portion of the core conductor clamping portion

Connection terminal

In an electrical connector assembly, housings are locked with each other by locking a rear holder provided in a first connector with a cooperating second connector. In a rear holder main bodyof a rear holderthere are formed a plurality of resilient clamping lanceswhich clamp connection terminalsinserted into respective terminal receiving holesformed in a housing main body. At a middle upper portion of the rear holderthere is provided a resilient locking arm, and a locking clawis formed on the locking arm. When the housing main bodyis inserted into a housing main bodyof a cooperating connector, connection terminalsandare coupled with each other. The locking clawprovided on the locking armof the rear holderis engaged with a locking portionof the housing main bodyof the cooperating second connector.

Electrical connector having locking mechanism for locking connector housings

A connecting terminal has a rectangular tube-like connecting portionincluding a bottom plate, a first side plate not shown, a top plateand a second side plate. At a rear end of the top plate, there is formed a locking portionby folding a rear end of the top plate inwardly. A stabilizer portionprovided at one side of the second side plateis bent downwardly into a semicircular shape to extend downwardly with respect to the bottom plate.

Upon releasing a locking arm from a connecting terminal by inserting a jig through a front holder, the jig could not be erroneously inserted into a terminal inserting hole. Connecting terminals are inserted into a housing, and the connecting terminals are prevented from being pulled out of the housing backwardly by means of locking arms arranged above the respective connecting terminals. The front holder is engaged with the housing by a clamping mechanism in an axial direction and is movable laterally in a direction perpendicular to the axial direction. A pair of terminal inserting holes and an arm operating holeprovided for respective connecting terminals are shifted laterally. In a first position of the front holder, the terminal inserting hole is aligned with an axial line of a female-type connecting terminal, but the arm operating hole is shifted laterally from the locking arm.

Electrical connector

Even in the case of a bar-like small terminal connection, its strength is retained. In (a), a strip () made, for example, of a thin metal sheet having a thickness of 0.2 mm and a predetermined width is collapsed by rolling to a thickness of 0.16 mm as in (b). Subsequently, as in (c), the longitudinal opposite sides () of the strip () are erected with respect to the base plate (), then inwardly bent, as in (d), and folded onto the base (), as in (e). Further, the folded opposite sides () are erected together with the base plate () into a closely contacted state, whereupon as in (f), the folded body is mechanically compressed from all sides into a form having a 0.64-mm square cross section.

Male bar-like connection terminal and method of producing the same

In a connector terminal into which a cooperating male contact terminal can be smoothly inserted and a movable contact strip can be prevented from being buckled while a desired contact pressure can be attained, a connecting portionis formed into a substantially box shape by folding a bottom plate, side plates(is not shown) continuously extending from respective sides of the bottom plate and a top platecontinuously extending from one of the side plates. A movable contact stripis formed by folding back the top platearound a gently curved portioninto a resilient spring having an inverted triangular shape including a contact portionnear an inwardly bent middle portion of the movable contact strip. A holeis formed at an end portion of the movable contact stripinto which an engagement tipformed by folding a part of the top plateinwardly is inserted.

A rear holder is inserted into a housing from a rear end surface at a provisional locking position in which the rear holder is inserted into the housing halfway and an insertion of connecting terminals is allowed, as well as at a sufficiently inserted complete locking position at which the inserted connecting terminals are locked. Within the housing , there are formed two rows of terminal accommodating holes each accommodating respective connecting terminals. The rear holder is formed in a substantially plate-like shape and includes a main body which is inserted into slits of the housing and locking arms which are inserted into respective terminal accommodating holes . A width of a locking arm is slightly smaller than that of a terminal accommodating hole . Windows are formed in the outer wall of the housing such that the terminal accommodating holes are communicated with external through the windows . Through these windows , locking condition between the connecting terminals and the locking arms can be released and an electrical conduction test of the connecting terminals can be performed.

Electric connector permitting testing of electric conductivity of terminals in provisional locking position

A rear holder is inserted into a housing from a rear end surface at a provisional locking position in which the rear holder is inserted into the housing halfway and an insertion of connecting terminals is allowed, as well as at a sufficiently inserted complete locking position at which the inserted connecting terminals are locked. Within the housing there are formed two rows of terminal accommodating holes each accommodating respective connecting terminals. The rear holder is formed in a substantially plate-like shape and includes a main body which is inserted into slits of the housing and locking arms which are inserted into respective terminal accommodating holes A width of a locking arm is slightly smaller than that of a terminal accommodating hole Windows are formed in the outer wall of the housing such that the terminal accommodating holes are communicated with external through the windows Through these windows locking condition between the connecting terminals and the locking arms can be released and an electrical conduction test of the connecting terminals can be performed.

Electric connector

A joint connector easy to construct and involving less fabricating cost. The joint connector comprises a housing,for accommodating a plurality of connecting terminals,in a rear-side portion thereof, a bus bar,formed out of an electrically conductive metal plate and accommodated in the housing,for jointing any individual ones of the connecting terminals,, a bus bar holder,for holding the bus bar,, and a front cover,mounted to the housing,in such a way as to cover the bus bar holder,. The bus bar holder,has a plurality of holes to be used for cutting the bus bar,to form an arbitrary circuit. The bus bar holder,and the bus bar,is mounted in the housing,so as to be movable in relation to the housing,in a direction orthogonal to the direction of the connecting terminals,being housed. When the front cover,is set in the housing,, it causes the bus bar holder,to be moved and the bus bar,to be jointed with connecting terminals

Joint connector

A connector including a reception housing which has four sector-shaped compartments defined by four radial partitions, and four sector-shaped end terminals are inserted into the four sector-shaped compartments from mutually orthogonal directions which are perpendicular to a direction in which an insertion housing is inserted into the reception housing. A number of male terminals are provided on each of the four sector-shaped end terminals, and a number of conductors of a plurality of flat cables are connected to the male terminals. On the insertion housing, a number of female terminals are provided each being connected to respective one of a number of electric wires. The male and female terminals are simultaneously coupled with each other by inserting the insertion housing into the reception housing.

Housing accomodating a plurality of flat cables

A connector including a reception housing in which a number of connecting terminals connected to respective conductors are accommodated, an insertion housing in which a number of second connecting terminals connected to respective conductors are accommodated, a holding housing for holding said reception housing, and a spring member arranged between the reception housing and the holding housing. When said insertion housing is inserted into said reception housing, said reception housing is pushed toward the insertion housing and first and second connecting terminals are coupled with each other by a restoring force of the spring means.

Connector

An electric connector including a housing made of resin and having a plurality of cavities for receiving a plurality of terminals and a terminal retaining member made of resin and having a plurality of holes. When a rear portion of the housing is inserted into an opening formed in a front portion of the terminal retaining member, the housing and terminal retaining member are preliminarily coupled with each other in a first coupling mode in which the holes of the terminal retaining member are aligned with the cavities of the housing. After the terminals having electric wires connected thereto have been inserted into the cavities through the holes, the terminal retaining member is shifted in a direction perpendicular to a direction in which the terminals are inserted and then is further moved toward the housing to attain a second coupling mode. In the second coupling mode the terminals are engaged with portions of the terminal retaining member to prevent the terminals from being removed out of the housing.
