There is provided a manufacturing method of a rotary electric machine, including: sintering each of a plurality of green compacts to obtain a plurality of sintered bodies; applying a grain boundary diffusion process on each sintered body by adhering an adhering material, which includes a heavy rare earth element, to at least one of a pair of planar surfaces of each sintered body, and then heating each sintered body to diffuse the heavy rare earth element into an inside of the sintered body; and forming a laminated body of a plurality of magnet segments by placing a corresponding one of the pair of planar surfaces of one of each adjacent two of the sintered bodies in contact with a corresponding one of the pair of planar surfaces of another one of the adjacent two of the sintered bodies.

A field element includes magnetic poles having polarities alternate in a circumferential direction. A multi-phase armature winding includes a phase winding including winding segments for each phase. An armature is tooth-less and includes a cylindrical armature core. A field magneton constitutes a rotating electric machine including an armature having an armature winding and is arranged radially facing the armature. The field magneton includes a magnet having a plurality of magnetic poles with alternating polarities in a circumferential direction. The magnet is oriented so that a direction of an axis of easy magnetization on a d-axis side, which is a magnetic pole center, is closer to a direction of the d-axis than the direction of the axis of easy magnetization on a q-axis side, which is a magnetic pole boundary. In the magnet, a coefficient of linear expansion in the direction of the axis of easy magnetization is different from the coefficient of linear expansion in the direction perpendicular to the axis of easy magnetization.

An armature winding of a rotary electric machine includes two systems of electrically independent windings. An armature winding of a first system is closer to the field element in the radial direction than an armature winding of a second system, A current control device is provided for controlling a current to the armature winding of the first system and the armature winding of the second system. In consideration of a difference in magnetic flux waveforms from the field element caused by a difference in the distance to the field element in the radial direction, the current control device differentiates a current waveform to the armature winding of the first system from a current waveform to the armature winding of the second system.
