According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a centrifuge including: a driving unit which rotates a rotor on which a sample is held; an input/output unit which displays information thereon and receives an input from a user therethrough; and a control unit which controls a rotation speed of the rotor to an input set rotation speed; wherein, when the rotor is rotating, the input/output unit displays first time information corresponding to a time when the rotor has been accelerated to the set rotation speed.

A magnetic disk drive includes a magnetic recording medium and a magnetic head slider adapted to fly over a surface of a magnetic recording medium and read or write information. The magnetic head slider includes a slider air bearing surface and a magnetic transducer. The slider air bearing surface includes a front pad having front rail surfaces and front step bearing surfaces, a rear pad having a rear rail surface and a rear step bearing surface, and a negative-pressure groove interposed between the front pad and the rear pad. A vibration suppressing groove is formed in the rear rail surface so as to be deeper than the rear rail surface and to be closed at its periphery. The vibration suppressing groove quickly damps out translational and pitching vibrations in the flying height direction of the magnetic head slider while stabilizing its flying.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a slider that may suppress contamination from being attached to the flying surface of the slider without influence on reduction of the flying height of the slider. Ions exerting an effect of decreasing surface energy are implanted in the whole surface of a flying surface of a magnetic head slider except for a front rail surface and a center rail surface. According to this, contamination is prevented from being attached to a front step bearing surface, a side step bearing surface, a center step bearing surface and a negative pressure groove where contamination is particularly liable to be attached in the flying surface of the magnetic head slider, so as to suppress destabilization in flying of the slider.

A centrifuge includes a frame, a door, a restricting part, a first spring member, and a second spring member. The frame has an opening on top thereof, when the frame is disposed in an orientation in which the frame is intended to be placed. The door is movably supported on the frame to be capable of opening and closing the opening. The restricting part is provided on the frame and defines a prescribed region. The first spring member has one end pivotally supported on the door, and another end pivotally supported on the frame. The second spring member has one end pivotally supported on the door, and another end that is movable within the prescribed region.

Embodiments in accordance with the present invention provide a magnetic head slider capable of securing a larger flying margin even when position variations occur at the time of flying. Embodiments of the present invention also provide a magnetic head slider having an excellent flying following capability. A read element and a write element of a magnetic head slider are arranged on a spherical or ellipsoidal projection and this projection is formed on a thin film magnetic head part. This may prevent a flying margin from being reduced by variations in flying position and may prevent a manufacturing step from being caused on the spherical or ellipsoidal projection. Moreover, by making the constituent ratio of the thin film magnetic head part on an air-bearing surface of the magnetic head sliderto be 7% or more, the read element and the write element are arranged at a pressure center position on the center rail surface of the air-bearing surface. This may enhance a following capability when the slider flies.
