A hybrid electric vehicle includes: a powertrain configured to execute hybrid traveling and power generation, and electric traveling, the hybrid traveling and the power generation being performed through cooperation of an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors; a battery that transmits and receives electric power to and from the powertrain; and a control device. The control device executes management of a remaining battery level of the battery for securing a specific remaining battery level as traveling assistance, when a specific section in which operation of the internal combustion engine is restricted exists on a predicted travel route. The control device executes a selection process for selecting, based on presence or absence of an execution history of the traveling assistance and the remaining battery level, a traveling mode before entering the specific section from a BEV mode, an HEV mode, and a charging mode.

A travel support control device: creates a travel support plan in which one of travel modes including a CD mode and a CS mode is assigned to each travel section based on look-ahead information generated for a travel route to allow a hybrid electric vehicle to travel and calculates a total distance of electric traveling on the travel route; creates a travel support plan for travel sections to a travel section immediately before an information non-acquirable area in which information required for creating the look-ahead information is not acquirable and calculates the total distance of electric traveling on the travel route, when the information non-acquirable area is included in the travel route; and stops switching of the travel mode based on travel support control and continuously calculates the total distance of electric traveling on the travel route, when the hybrid electric vehicle is traveling in the information non-acquirable area.

Travel support control device for hybrid electric vehicle

A travel support control device creates a travel support plan in which one of travel modes including a charge depleting (CD) mode and a charge sustaining (CS) mode is assigned to each travel section of a travel route based on prediction information generated for the travel route, performs travel support control, and calculates a total distance of electric traveling on the travel route as one result of the travel support control. When a hybrid electric vehicle is traveling in an area outside of communication coverage while the travel support control is being performed, the travel support control device stops switching the travel mode based on the travel support plan and keeps calculating the total distance of electric traveling on the travel route.

The drive support plan is created based on the battery remaining capacity taking into account the power consumption of the air conditioning system. When the predetermined condition that is based on the battery remaining capacity without taking into account the power consumption of the air conditioning system is satisfied while performing the drive support control, the driving state is continued.

Hybrid vehicle drive support plan according to route and air conditioning power consumption

There is provided a hybrid vehicle that enables user to be more appropriately notified of a control effect by performing a drive support control. A hybrid vehicle includes an engine; a motor; a battery; map information; and a control device programmed to set a drive route from a current location to a destination, to create a drive support plan that assigns one of drive modes including a CD mode and a CS mode to each of drive sections of the drive route, and to perform drive support control that causes the hybrid vehicle to be driven along the drive support plan. The control device accumulates control effect obtained by performing the drive support control and notifies the control effect when the hybrid vehicle reaches the destination. The control device deletes the control effect when the predetermined deletion condition is satisfied.

A travel assistance apparatus includes an ECU that is configured to: draw up a travel plan in which any one of drive modes, including a CD mode and a CS mode, is assigned to each of travel segments of a scheduled travel route, execute travel assistance control for causing a vehicle to travel according to the travel plan; when a total of consumption energy is greater than a value obtained by adding a first margin value to a remaining battery power, draw up the travel plan and execute the travel assistance control; and, when the total of consumption energy is greater than a value obtained by adding a second margin value less than the first margin value to the remaining battery power when the travel assistance control is started again after suspension of the travel assistance control, maintain or adjust the travel plan and execute the travel assistance control.

An electronic control unit is configured to continue execution of the charge control until the hybrid vehicle passes a branch point between the congestion go-through route and the congestion avoidance route, when the electronic control unit changes the scheduled traveling route from a congestion go-through route including the congestion zone, to a congestion avoidance route for avoiding the congestion zone, during execution of the charge control.
