An ink-jet recording method of recording an ink-jet recording ink containing at least a water-soluble dye and a resinous micro-particle dispersion on an ink-jet recording medium, comprising steps of providing a colorless ink on at least a part of the ink-jet recording medium by a liquid providing section separately installed from a recording section for the ink-jet recording ink, wherein the colorless ink contains at least a resin and is substantially colorless.

An ink containing water, a water-soluble organic solvent and a colorant, wherein the ink exhibits a (&#x3b3; cos &#x3b8;)value of 4 to 6, and satisfies Formula (I): 0.3&#x2266;((&#x3b3;' cos &#x3b8;&#x2032;)/(&#x3b3; cos &#x3b8;))&#x2266;0.85, wherein &#x3b3; represents a surface tension (mN/m) of the ink upon initial exposure to atmospheric conditions, &#x3b8; represents an initial contact angle of the ink with respect to plain paper upon initial exposure to atmospheric conditions; and &#x3b3;&#x2032; represents a surface tension (mN/m) of the ink after standing for one hour at 40&#xb0; C. and relative humidity of 2 percent, and &#x3b8;&#x2032; represents an initial contact angle of the ink with respect to plain paper after standing for one hour at 40&#xb0; C. and relative humidity of 2 percent.
