A vibrating actuator includes a contact body and a vibrating body that vibrates, has an energy conversion element, and has an elastic body in contact with the contact body to move relative to each other from the vibration. The contact body has a base part, a thin plate part, a support part, and a friction member. The thin plate part extends from the base part toward an annular center axis of the base part and the support part is disposed at an end of the thin plate part. The friction member is disposed to the support part as a member separate from the support part and in contact with the elastic body. Density of the friction member is higher than density of the thin plate part. A weight ratio of the thin plate part to a total weight of the friction member and the support part is 0.5 to 1.5.

Vibrating actuator having contact part with high abrasion resistance

A vibration actuator capable of adjusting the position of a vibration element with respect to a contact body. The vibration actuator includes a vibration element unit and a contact body capable of relative movement to each other. The vibration element unit includes a first vibration element in contact with the contact body, an urging unit that brings the first vibration element and the contact body into contact with each other with predetermined pressure force, a first holding member that holds the first vibration element, a base, a first supporting member that slidably supports the first holding member in a direction in which the first vibration element is pressed against the contact body, and a first connection member that is rotatably connected to the first supporting member and rotatably connected to the base about an axis parallel to a direction of the relative movement.

A vibration actuator includes an elastic body on which at least one projection is formed and a vibrating body including an electromechanical conversion device, and drives a driven member that is in contact with a contact portion of the projection by causing an end portion of the projection to perform an ellipsoidal movement in response to a combination of two vibration modes generated in the vibrating body when an alternating driving voltage is applied. The elastic body is formed integrally with the projection and a bonding portion between the projection and the electromechanical conversion device. A space is provided between the contact portion and the electromechanical conversion device to which the projection is bonded. The spring portion is provided between the bonding portion and the contact portion and causes the projection to exhibit a spring characteristic when the contact portion is pressed by the driven member.

A control method for a vibration-type actuator which prevents the vibration-type actuator from becoming inoperable during operation. To drive the vibration-type actuator when a load for moving a vibrating body and a driven body relatively to each other is relatively high, a first frequency falling within a frequency range including a frequency at which thrust of the vibration-type actuator reaches its peak is set as a starting frequency of AC voltage applied to an electro-mechanical energy conversion element of the vibrating body. To drive the vibration-type actuator when the load is relatively low, a third frequency lower than the first frequency and higher than a second frequency is set as the starting frequency, the second frequency being a frequency at which a moving speed at which the driving body and the driven body move relatively to each other reaches its peak.

A method for manufacturing a vibration actuator includes forming an elastic body integrally with a projection protruding from a surface of the elastic body, by press working. Forming the elastic body includes forming a bonding portion surrounding the projection, forming a contact portion at a top portion of the projection, forming a spring portion between the contact portion and the bonding portion, and forming a standing portion having a hollow structure, between the spring portion and the contact portion, so that the standing portion has a ring shape in a cross-sectional view in a direction parallel to the surface of the elastic member and that a space surrounded by the contact portion, the spring portion, and the standing portion. The spring portion is formed by press working, and the bonding portion is formed by press working.

Method for manufacturing a vibration actuator

A vibration actuator is capable of bringing a vibration body into press contact with a driven body stably for an extended period while reducing obstruction of excitation of vibration in the vibration body by the pressing force. The driven body is in contact with the vibration body by a pressing force given by a pressing member. A vibration isolation member is arranged between the vibration body and the pressing member. The vibration body and the driven body move relatively by vibrations in first and second vibration modes that are excited in the vibration body by applying alternating voltage to a piezoelectric device on the vibration body. Face pressure that acts on the piezoelectric device by the pressing force from the pressing member in first and second areas that respectively include nodal lines in the first and second vibration modes and their vicinities is higher than that in other areas.

In a translational driving apparatus that is capable of reducing the drive load of a vibration-type actuator, each of a plurality of drive units has a vibration-type actuator and an output portion that outputs a driving force that occurs by driving the vibration-type actuator. A holding portion holds the drive units. A movable body has driving-force receiving parts that slidably engage with the output portions, and is driven by the drive units. A fixing portion supports the movable body so as to allow translation in any direction in a plane. The output portions receive no force from the driving-force receiving parts in a direction that intersects perpendicularly with the plane.

A vibration-type actuator can be miniaturized and can stabilize a pressure state between a driven body and a vibration body. A pressurizing unit applies a pressure force between projections on the vibration body and the driven body. A piezoelectric device connected to the vibration body on a surface opposite to the projections moves the driven body by vibration occurring in the vibration body when a drive voltage is applied. The pressurizing unit includes an energizing member, its support member, and a transfer member. A length of a contact area between the projections and the driven body is shorter than a length of an area in which the transfer member transfers the pressure force from the energizing member to the vibration body and a length of a contact area between the energizing member and the support member, in a direction perpendicular to the moving direction and to a pressurizing direction by the pressurizing unit.

A vibration type driving device includes an electro-mechanical energy conversion element; a vibrator fixed to the electro-mechanical energy conversion element and configured to be vibrated by application of voltage to the electro-mechanical energy conversion element; a first driven member and a second driven member frictionally driven by press-contact with the vibrator and configured to transmit rotational forces by frictional driving to an output shaft; and at least one pressing portion configured to bring the first driven member and the second driven member into press contact with the vibrator, wherein the pressing portion, the first driven member, the second driven member, and the vibrator are arranged to allow an air flow generated by an airflow generation unit to flow through an air-ventilation path of the pressing portion, between the first driven member and the second driven member, and an air-ventilation path of the vibrator.

A vibration wave actuator includes a vibrator, a driven element, and a magnet. The vibrator has at least an electro-mechanical energy conversion element and an elastic body to which the electro-mechanical energy conversion element is joined, the elastic body including a contact portion. The driven element is in pressure contact with the contact portion of the vibrator, and includes a magnetic substance. The magnet is arranged such that the vibrator is placed between the driven element and the magnet.

A vibration wave actuator includes a vibrator having at least an electro-mechanical energy conversion element and an elastic body to which the electro-mechanical energy conversion element is joined, with the elastic body including a contact portion formed therein, and a driven element that is in pressure contact with the contact portion of the vibrator and includes a magnetic substance. Provided is an annular vibration wave actuator capable of distributing a contact surface pressure at a contacting portion over the entire contacting face and capable of reducing sliding in the direction orthogonal to the driving direction, thus improving durability.
