A signal detecting device provided in a connector at an end of a communication cable or in a communication device to which the connector is connected. The signal detecting device includes a detection circuit that branches and extracts a portion of a signal transmitted through the communication cable and indicates existence of a data communication based on the extracted signal, and a self-diagnostic circuit that inputs a diagnostic signal into the detection circuit upon diagnosis of the detection circuit.

Signal detecting device

A communication device is provided wherein a number of the pairs of transmission lines is N, each pair of the transmission lines comprises (N&#x2212;1) stages of sub-transmission lines generating a same amount of crosstalk as that caused at a connector, and (N&#x2212;1) stages of connecting portions comprise a transmission path of the connector and a first stage sub-transmission line, and (N&#x2212;1) stages of the connecting portions to connect an i th stage sub-transmission line and an (i+1) th stage sub-transmission line by the straight/cross connection, and wherein each pair of the transmission lines is different in all pairs in a number of the connecting portion having the cross connection; and as a j th stage connecting portion in any one pair of the transmission lines has cross connection, a (N&#x2212;j) th stage connecting portion in the any one pair of the transmission lines also has cross connection.

Communication device

A signal detecting device includes a visualization device including a plural connectors to which a communication cable is connected, a plural detecting circuits that are provided for each of the connectors to be detected, branch and extract a part of a signal transmitted through the communication cable connected to the connectors, and indicate an existence of an data communication based on the extracted signal, and a detecting card that is insertable into and detachable from a card connector arranged in the visualization device and mounts at least a part of the detecting circuit.

A repeater includes two connectors each including electrodes and configured to connect a communication cable through which a differential signal is transmitted, a circuit board on which the two connectors are mounted and which includes a signal transmission section configured to connect corresponding electrodes of the two connectors together, and a signal detection circuit mounted on the circuit board and configured to extract a part of a signal transmitted through the signal transmission section and indicate the presence or absence of information communication based on the extracted signal. The circuit board includes a multi-layer substrate including at least an inner layer in which the signal transmission section is formed, two shield layers configured to interpose the signal transmission section therebetween, and an outer layer outside the shield layer on which the signal detection circuit is mounted.
