An image forming apparatus includes a print portion that prints an image on a sheet passing by a print position, and an inserter that inserts an insert sheet between sheets conveyed one after another. In a print job involving an insert process, the print portion conveys, while securing an insert interval between a preceding sheet, which is a sheet immediately preceding the insert sheet, and a succeeding sheet, which is a sheet immediately following the insert sheet, the preceding sheet and the succeeding sheet one after another. The print portion automatically changes the insert interval according to the length of the insert sheet in the conveyance direction.

Image forming apparatus and control method therefor

An image forming apparatus includes a fixing device, and a controller. The controller acts as a print controller, a drawing controller, and an engine controller. The print controller receives a printing request. The drawing controller identifies an image to be drawn, through image processing of a page image designated by the printing request with respect to each page, and identifies a use amount of toner required for the image to be drawn. The engine controller executes a primary fixing temperature control including controlling the fixing temperature according to color information designated by the printing request with respect to each page, and executes, after executing the primary fixing temperature control, a secondary fixing temperature control including controlling the fixing temperature according to the use amount of toner identified by the drawing controller.

An image forming apparatus includes a print engine, a sheet transportation unit, an optical sensor, and an image processing unit. The print engine is configured to physically print an image to be printed on a print sheet. The sheet transportation unit is configured to transport the print sheet along a predetermined transportation path. The optical sensor is arranged so as to face the transportation path, and configured to detect a color of a test chart on a colored print sheet transported along the transportation path. The image processing unit is configured to perform color correction of the image to be printed on the colored print sheet, on the basis of the detected color of the test chart on the colored print sheet so as to restrain color change of the image due to a surface color of the colored print sheet.
