There is adopted an enclosure dipole antenna structure including antenna elements respectively provided in a lower enclosure and an upper enclosure. There is also adopted a structure in which the lower structure and the upper structure are rotatably joined together along two axes of hinges. The enclosures thereby become openable and closable in two directions including a vertical direction and a horizontal direction. There can be implemented high antenna performance without use of an external antenna even regardless of whether the enclosures are opened in the vertical direction or the horizontal direction. A feeding section and a connection section are separated from each other by a distance of 1/20 or more of a wavelength corresponding to an operating frequency. Power can well be fed to the antenna elements.

Portable radio device

An upper case () is connected to a lower case () in a hinge portion () so as to freely rotate. A plate shaped conductor () and a plate shaped conductor () are disposed along the surface of the case in the upper case (). A ground plate () is formed in a ground pattern of a circuit board disposed in the lower case (). The plate shaped conductor () and the plate shaped conductor () are selected by a high frequency switch () and connected to one end of a feeding portion (). The other end of the feeding portion () is connected to the ground plate () to form a dipole antenna.

Portable wireless machine

A collapsable portable wireless unit () comprises an upper case () and a lower case () coupled through a hinge member () to open/close freely. A planar conductor () is arranged on the upper case (). First and second power supply sections () are arranged on the planar conductor () at a specified interval. A harmonic signal distributor () is arranged on a circuit board () provided in the lower case () and distributes a harmonic signal to the first and second power supply sections (). A phase shifter () sets the exciting phase of the harmonic signal in the second power supply sections () at a value different from that of the exciting phase of the harmonic signal in the first power supply sections ().

Collapsable portable wireless unit

There is provided a mobile telephone assuring a high reception sensitivity over a wide band without deteriorating the design of the mobile telephone. In the mobile telephone, a helical antenna () operating as an antenna for television reception is formed by winding a conductive element along the external surface of the case several times at the upper end of the upper case (). The helical antenna () is impedance-matched by a matching circuit () in a range of the order from 470 MHz to 700 MHz which is the television broadcast frequency. The matching circuit () is connected to a broadcast reception circuit (). The broadcast reception circuit () operates as a reception circuit for receiving the television broadcast wave.
