A cylinder head includes a plurality of exhaust ports provided corresponding to a plurality of cylinders, and configured to converge outlets of the exhaust ports inside the cylinder head, at least one of the exhaust ports not being provided with a water jacket there above, and a pair of oil passages arranged so as to sandwich the at least one of the exhaust ports above which the water jacket is not provided. An inclined surface provided on an upper surface of the cylinder head and positioned between the pair of oil passages, the inclined surface being inclined from one oil passage, of the pair of oil passages, toward the other oil passage.

Cylinder head

In an electric water pump for circulating cooling water of an engine mounted on a vehicle or similar, a time interval to switch energized phase of a pump motor is set to longer than a time interval during a normal flow rate control (during a flow rate control at a flow rate equal to or more than a flow rate where an electromotive force generated at a non-energized phase is detectable). In the case where a pump discharge pressure (or a water temperature of the cooling water) repeatedly increases and decreases in this extremely low flow rate state, it is determined that the electric water pump normally rotates as required. This allows providing the extremely low flow rate state between a water stop state and a water circulation state in a control for stop of water in an engine cooling system.

Control device for electric water pump

The disclosed internal combustion engine has an electric water pump and a water temperature sensor that detects coolant water temperature. An electronic control device stops the driving of the water pump when the coolant water temperature is lower than a baseline temperature. Meanwhile, the electronic control device drives the water pump in accordance with the coolant water temperature when the coolant water temperature is higher than the baseline temperature. When the driving of the water pump is stopped, the internal combustion engine forbids at least one engine control until the water pump is driven.

Device for controlling internal combustion engine

When the passing of coolant in an internal combustion engine is restricted to accelerate the warm-up of the internal combustion engine and the coolant in this engine is undergoing nucleate boiling, the restriction of the passing of the coolant in the internal engine is maintained. Specifically, the restriction of the passing of the coolant in the internal combustion engine is maintained during nucleate boiling from the beginning of nucleate boiling of the coolant in the internal combustion engine until the maintenance period has elapsed. Thus, the warm-up of the internal combustion engine is effectively accelerated by restricting the passing of the coolant in the engine. Furthermore, the restriction of the passing of the coolant in the internal combustion engine is canceled when the maintenance period has elapsed. Thus, low-temperature coolant flows in the internal combustion engine and the internal combustion engine is cooled by this coolant, so nucleate boiling of the coolant in the engine is suppressed.

Warmup acceleration device for internal combustion engine

Disclosed is a device for cooling an internal combustion engine in which circulation of cooling water is halted until the cooling water reaches a predetermined temperature, wherein decline in the durability of a radiator, which is caused by thermal strain that occurs when circulation of the cooling water is restarted and the cooling water is introduced into the radiator, is suppressed. An internal combustion engine () comprises an electric pump (), a water temperature sensor (), a radiator (), and a thermostat (). The water temperature sensor () detects a cooling water temperature (THW). The radiator () is capable of circulating the cooling water between the radiator () and an engine cooling system (). If the cooling water temperature (THW) is equal to or greater than a valve opening temperature (TZ), the thermostat () opens and the cooling water is introduced into the radiator (). An electronic control device () performs control in such a way that the discharge pressure of the cooling water is increased by the electric pump () before the thermostat () opens and cooling water is introduced into the radiator ().

Engine cooling device

A cooling apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes an engine cooling system that includes a water jacket, a radiator, and a circulation passage through which a coolant is circulated between the water jacket and the radiator, wherein the coolant is provided in the engine cooling system; a water pump that forcibly circulates the coolant provided in the engine cooling system when the water pump is operated; a reservoir tank in which the coolant is reserved, and into which gas flows from the engine cooling system while the reserved coolant flows out to the engine cooling system from the reservoir tank; and a forcible introduction portion that forcibly introduces the coolant from the reservoir tank into the engine cooling system before the internal combustion engine is started.

Cooling apparatus for internal combustion engine, method of controlling the same, and hybrid vehicle including the same

An engine coolant amount determining apparatus includes an electric water pump that can be operated intermittently while an engine is running, and a coolant temperature detecting means for detecting the temperature of coolant at a location higher than the water pump. The engine coolant amount determining apparatus also includes determining means for determining that the amount of coolant is equal to or less than a predetermined amount when the degree of change in the coolant temperature detected by the coolant temperature detecting means when the water pump is operated intermittently is large.
