A transliteration support device according to an embodiment includes an acquisition unit, an extraction unit, a generation unit, and a reproduction unit. The acquisition unit acquires a text to be transliterated. The addition unit adds a transliteration tag indicating a transliteration setting of the text to the text. The extraction unit extracts a transliteration pattern in which a frequent appearance transliteration setting frequently appearing in the transliteration settings indicated by the transliteration tags and an applicable condition when the frequent appearance transliteration setting is applied to the text are in association with each other. The generation unit produces a synthesized voice using the transliteration pattern. The reproduction unit reproduces the produced synthesized voice.

The input unit receives document information. The presentation unit presents a way of correction defined in accordance with the correction pattern used in the extraction of the correction part. According to an embodiment, a transliteration work support device includes an analysis unit, a storage unit, an estimation unit, a construction unit, a correction unit, and an update unit. The analysis unit performs language analysis on document data and creates transliteration auxiliary information representing a way of transliteration of a word or a phrase in the document data. The storage unit stores a correction history representing a way of transliteration corrected in the past of the word or the phrase. The estimation unit estimates a correction place and a correction candidate of the document data or the transliteration auxiliary information from the history. The construction unit constructs work list information including work items corresponding to types of corrections according to the correction candidate and progress information. The correction unit corrects the document data or the transliteration auxiliary information. The update unit updates the history and the progress information according to the correction.

A communication supporting apparatus includes a supplemental example storing unit that stores a source language interpretation which is an interpretation of a semantic content of a source language sentence to be translated, and a supplemental example sentence which is an example of a sentence for supporting the semantic content, in association with each other; an input accepting unit that accepts the source language sentence input by a user; an analyzing unit that analyzes the semantic content of the source language sentence and outputs the source language interpretation; a search unit that searches for the supplemental example sentence associated with the source language interpretation from the supplemental example storing unit; and a translation unit that translates the source language sentence and the supplemental example sentence into a target language.
