In an acoustoelectric converter element, a light wave from a light source is introduced into a first optical waveguide of a vibration substrate, and diffracted by a diffraction grating disposed on the first optical waveguide. The diffracted light is directed to and detected by a photo detector. Here, the vibration substrate is so supported as to vibrate with respect to an acoustic wave. Therefore, the diffracted light detected by the photo detector is modulated by the acoustic wave, and a signal is output from the detector in accordance with the acoustic wave.

A sensor device includes a sensor array in which infrared sensors are arrayed and a detection circuit connected to the output signal line of the sensor array. The detection circuit includes a capacitor having a charging circuit which is selectively driven, a sense amplifier circuit which detects and amplifies a change in sensor current flowing to the output signal line, a current-to-voltage conversion circuit which converts the output current from the sense amplifier circuit into a voltage, a discharging circuit which is controlled by the output voltage of the current-to-voltage conversion circuit to discharge the capacitor, and an output circuit which outputs the terminal voltage of the capacitor.

A solid state radiation detector has semiconductor layers and metal layers which are stacked along the incident direction of radiation rays. Each metal layer is made of a specific metal material which receives radiation rays entering itself and produces free photoelectrons by interactions therewith. The photoelectrons are introduced into the semiconductor layer, and excite it, thereby producing electron-hole pairs therein. The metal layers serve not only as radiation detecting layers but also as electrodes for collecting the electron-hole pairs. Therefore, when the produced electron-hole pairs are derived from the metal layers, an electrical radiation detecting signal may be produced.

A storage and reconstruction apparatus for radiation image is comprised of a radiation image storage medium made of phosphor glass powder in which activators are formed according a radiation image. The radiation image storage medium emits a fluorescent light by irradiation of an excitation light, and the emitted fluorescent light is detected and converted into an electrical signal.
