In one aspect, a method includes determining a connection parameter of a multimedia telephony session between a user equipment (UE) and a remote UE. The method further includes generating assistance information based on the connection parameter. Yet further, the method include sending, using a medium access control (MAC) control element, the assistance information to an access node (AN) serving the UE.

A user equipment wireless communication device in a wireless communication environment receives a signal from the network that includes a radio network temporary ID. From the radio network temporary ID, the user equipment is capable of determining whether a phase tracking reference signal is present based on the radio network temporary ID. If any of these are identified by the radio network temporary ID, then the user equipment determines that a phase tracking reference signal is present. After the user equipment has determined that the phase tracking reference signal is present, the user equipment can then determine which phase tracking reference signal antenna ports are to be used based on the values of the transmitted precoding matrix indicator value and the transmit rank indicator.

Techniques to configure a user equipment (UE) for a multi-connectivity handover with a source base station (SBS) and a target base station (TBS) include encoding a measurement report for transmission to the SBS. The measurement report is triggered based on a measurement event configured by the SBS. Radio resource control (RRC) signaling from the SBS is decoded, the RRC signaling including a handover command in response to the measurement report. The handover command includes an indication for multi-connectivity support by the SBS and the TBS during the handover. A first protocol stack associated with the SBS and a second protocol stack associated with the TBS are configured at the UE. A packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data unit (PDU) received at the UE during the handover is processed using the first protocol stack or the second protocol stack.

In such a process, an MsgA PUSCH signal and a grant based PUSCH signal may collide. When such a collision is detected, either the MsgA PUSCH signal or the grant based PUSCh signal are dropped. The other of the two signals is then transmitted. The determination regarding which signal to drop can be based on a set of rules stored in memory.

Embodiments described herein relate generally to a communication between a user equipment ('UE') and a plurality of evolved Node Bs (“eNBs”). A UE may be adapted to operate in a dual connected mode on respective wireless cells provided by first and second eNBs. The UE may be adapted to estimate respective power headroom (“PHR”) values associated with simultaneous operation on the first and second wireless cells. The UE may cause the first and second PHR estimates to be transmitted to both the first and second eNBs. The first and second eNBs may use these estimates to compute respective uplink transmission powers for the UE. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE) to support dual-connectivity with a Master Evolved Node-B (MeNB) and a Secondary eNB (SeNB) are disclosed herein. The UE may receive downlink traffic packets from the MeNB and from the SeNB as part of a split data radio bearer (DRB). At least a portion of control functionality for the split DRB may be performed at each of the MeNB and the SeNB. The UE may receive an uplink eNB indicator for an uplink eNB to which the UE is to transmit uplink traffic packets as part of the split DRB. Based at least partly on the uplink eNB indicator, the UE may transmit uplink traffic packets to the uplink eNB as part of the split DRB. The uplink eNB may be selected from a group that includes the MeNB and the SeNB.

An apparatus and system for reducing URLLC latency are described. A single packet mode is described in which, when a packet arrives at the PDCP layer for transmission, an indication is sent to a scheduler with the expected size of the packet after ciphering. The packet is then sent to the RLC layer and concurrently submitted to the ciphering engine to enable ciphering to occur in parallel with the other activities. The scheduler determines the expected TB size for transmission of the packet by determining the size of the PDCP, MAC, and RLC headers. The scheduler matches the resource allocation for transmission to the expected TB size.
