The present invention is to provide a composition for preventing plant diseases which comprises at least Component I and Component II, is capable of obtaining a synergic effect that cannot be expected with each single component, is capable of markedly increasing a control effect in a much smaller amount of chemicals against various plant pathogens, and causes no phytotoxicity suffering. A composition for preventing plant diseases comprises Components I and II as active ingredients. The Component I is (RS)&#x2014;N-[2-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)thiophen-3-yl]-1-methyl-3-tri fluoromethyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamide. As the Component II, there can be exemplified, for example, tetraconazole, flutriafol, imibenconazole, triadimefon, simeconazole, oxpoconazole fumarate, prothioconazole, bupirimate, spiroxamine, metiram, dodine, anilazine, chlozolinate, oxycarboxin, ethaboxam, iprovalicarb, pyrazophos, fluoroimide, diflumetorim, fenhexamid, famoxadone, fenamidone, cyazofamid, zoxamide, cyflufenamid, boscalid, benthiavalicarb-isopropyl, picoxystrobin, pyraclostrobin, fluoxastrobin or dimoxystrobin.

The present invention provides an aqueous suspension formulation containing (RS)-N-[2-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)thiophene-3-yl]-1-methyl-3-trifluoromethyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamide and having high rain resistance and stable residual effectiveness. A aqueous suspension formulation for foliar application fungicide of the present invention contains a fungicidal active ingredient, (RS)-N-[2-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)thiophene-3-yl]-1-methyl-3-trifluoromethyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxamide, and a polyoxyalkylene rosin acid ester or liquid paraffin, and has improved rain resistance on plant leaves and excellent residual effectiveness.

A substituted anilide derivative represented by the formula (2): ##STR1## wherein A and B are methyl, and X is a hydrogen atom. The substituted anilide can be used to prepare a substituted carboxanilide derivative that exhibits a disease control effect against Botrytis cinerea, Powdery mildew, Pyricularia oryzae of rice plant and other various plant diseases, is excellent in residual effect, has activity against strains that are resistant to conventional chemicals, is safe for crops, and thus is useful as a plant disease control agent.

A substituted carboxanilide derivative represented by the formula (1): ##STR1## wherein A is a hydrogen atom or methyl, B is a methyl or ethyl, and Het is 1-methyl-3-substituted-4-pyrazolyl or 2-methyl-4-substituted-5-triazoyl group, exhibits a disease control effect against Botrytis cinerea, Powdery mildew, Pyricularia oryzae of rice plant and other various plant diseases, is excellent in residual effect, has also activity against resistant strain for conventional chemicals, particularly exerts control effects against Botrytis cinerea at a lower dosage as compared with a prior art, is also safe for crops, and thus is useful as a plant control agent.

The substituted thiophene derivative of the invention which is represented by the general formula (1) has a broad disease spectrum for a pathogenic fungus of various crops, exhibits an excellent controlling effect on disease such as gray mold, powdery mildew and rust in particular, and is also effective for a resistant fungus of conventional fungicides which has become a serious problem, and consequently is useful for an agricultural and horticultural fungicide. ##STR1##
