A magnetic characteristic measuring apparatus measures a magnetic characteristic of a sample having a core wound by a primary coil and a secondary coil with high accuracy at high frequency. The apparatus includes: an air-core coil wound by a primary coil and a secondary coil; and a capacitor. The primary coil of the sample, the primary coil of the air-core coil and the capacitor are serially connected, and the capacitance Cof the capacitor is selected as &#x2153;&#x3c9;L&#x2264;C&#x2264;1/&#x3c9;L, wherein Lis an inductance of the air-core coil at a frequency &#x3c9;/2&#x3c0;.

Magnetic characteristic measuring apparatus and method

A computer-readable medium stores a magnetic substrate simulation program causing a computer to execute a process that includes calculating an effective magnetic field for each area of an element in the magnetic substrate, when magnetization of each area changes and based on a magnetic field generated from magnetic energy in each area and a rate of change of magnetization working in a direction inhibiting change in the average magnetization of the areas; obtaining for each area and based on the calculated effective magnetic fields and magnetization of each area, changes in magnetization and calculating for each area, magnetization after the changes; judging based on magnetization of each area before and after the changes, whether magnetization in the element converges; and storing a combination of the average magnetization of the areas for which magnetization in the given element converges and a static magnetic field based on the average magnetization.

Simulation apparatus and simulation method

A method for simulating a magnetic material includes: repeatedly performing a first process and a second process until the change of magnetization and a static magnetic field converges, the first process being to calculate a distribution of the magnetization and an average magnetization in a magnetic material model of micromagnetics, and the second process being to assign the magnetic material model of the micromagnetics to each mesh included in another magnetic material model, calculate the static magnetic field of the another magnetic material model using the calculated average magnetization, and return the calculated static magnetic field to the calculation of the distribution of the magnetization; generating a hysteresis loop of each mesh included in the another magnetic material model based on the calculated average magnetization and the calculated static magnetic field, and calculating a hysteresis loss of the another magnetic material model from an area of the generated hysteresis loop.

Method for simulating magnetic material

The method of the present invention provides a magnetoresistance effect element, which is capable of having a high MR ratio, corresponding to high density recording and being suitably applied to a magnetoresistance device even though a barrier layer is thinned to reduce resistance of the magnetoresistance effect element. The method of producing the magnetoresistance effect element, which includes the barrier layer composed of an oxidized metal, a first magnetic layer contacting one of surfaces of the barrier layer and a second magnetic layer contacting the other surface thereof, comprises the steps of: laminating the barrier layer on the first magnetic layer with using a target composed of the oxidized metal; and laminating the second magnetic layer on the barrier layer. The barrier layer is annealed before laminating the second magnetic layer thereon.

Method of producing magnetoresistance effect element

A soft magnetic film includes a ferromagnetic layer. The ferromagnetic layer is laid over a non-magnetic substructure including ferromagnetic atoms. The uniaxial magnetic anisotropy may be established in the ferromagnetic layer. Since a magnetic property is not required in the substructure under the ferromagnetic layer, the soft magnetic film of this type may be utilized for purposes of wider variations.

Thin film head with nickel-iron alloy non-magnetic substratum between non-magnetic gap layer and upper magnetic pole layer

A soft magnetic film comprising Fe, Co, a metallic element (M), and oxygen (O) is provided. The soft magnetic film is represented by a composition formula of (Fe Co ) M O . The metallic element (M) is one selected from a group consisting of Al, B, Ga, Si, Ge, Y, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Rh, Ru, Ni, Pd and Pt, or is an alloy composed of at least two selected from this group. The composition formula fulfills the following conditions: a&equals;0.05-0.65; y&equals;0.2-9 at %, z&equals;1-12 at %, and y&plus;z&equals;<15 at %; and x&equals;(100&minus;y&minus;z) at %. A crystal structure is formed by having a bcc phase as a principal phase. The bcc phase has a crystal grain not exceeding 50 nm in diameter. The bcc phase includes a solid solution of the metallic element (M) and the oxygen (O).

Soft magnetic film of FeCoMO having a high saturation flux density, a moderate soft magnetism and a uniaxial magnetic anisotropy

An object of the present invention is to provide a recording head having a magnetic pole simultaneously possessing a high saturation magnetic flux density, a high permeability and a high electric resistivity, and the magnetic pole of the recording head is a polycrystalline film comprising Fe whose content is not less than 57.5 atomic % and not more than 94.5 atomic %; one or more kinds of elements selected from the element group of Al, B, Ga, Si, Ge, Y, Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W and Rh, whose whole content is not less than 1 atomic % and not more than 15 atomic %; N whose content is not less than 0.5 atomic % and not more than 10 atomic %; and O whose content is not less than 1.5 atomic % and not more than 22.5 atomic %.

Magnetic thin film, magnetic thin film forming method, and recording head

A liquid resist is introduced between adjacent conductive lines of a coil pattern girdling around a magnetic core piece. When the liquid resist is cured, an insulating resin filler can be fixed between the adjacent conductive lines of the coil pattern. An insulating metallic layer is formed to extend over the insulting resin filler and the conductive lines of the coil pattern. Thereafter, the insulating metallic layer is subjected to a flattening grinding treatment until at least a part of the conductive line is exposed at a flattened surface. Of the resist, of a higher fluidity, penetrates in every hole and corner between the adjacent conductive lines, the gap defined between the adjacent conductive lines is fully filled with the insulating material. No voids remain in the gap. The conductive line of the coil can be reliably prevented from corrosion or oxidation. Moreover, a relatively brittle of fragile insulating resin filler is reliably prevented from being subjected to the flattening.

Method of producing thin film magnetic head

A method for manufacturing a magnetoresistance head of the present invention comprises the steps of forming an organic film on a multilayered film constituting a magnetoresistance device, forming an upper film formed of resist or inorganic film on the organic film, patterning the organic film and the upper film, cutting into edges of the organic film patterns from edges of the upper film patterns inwardly to such an extent that particles of the thin film being formed on the upper film and the multilayered film do not contact to side portions of the organic film patterns.

A magnetic recording apparatus equipped with a recording circuit for generating a recording current corresponding to an input recording signal, a magnetic head, operable in response to the generated recording current, for recording, in a magnetic recording medium, data corresponding to the input recording signal, and a waveform shaping section for shaping the generated recording current such that a current value of said recording current approximates to a predetermined value while keeping thereover throughout a period corresponding to the data length. Both the recording circuit and the waveform shaping section may be mounted in an integrated form on a single microchip. The result is that the input recording signal can be transferred at high speed as measures are provided to reduce both a rise time and a fall time of the recording current.

There is provided a magnetic head which is able to enhance the magnetic field intensity to be generated by shaping a magnetic pole, and a method of manufacturing the same. The method of manufacturing a magnetic head, comprising the steps of forming a lower recording magnetic pole and an upper recording magnetic pole, and trimming partially an elongated pole in the vicinity of a floating surface of the upper recording magnetic pole and an upper portion of the lower recording magnetic pole positioned below and around the elongated pole by an ion milling method, wherein a core width of the elongated pole can be adjusted.
