According to one embodiment, a display processing apparatus includes an obtaining module, a relevance calculator, a display information generator, and a display controller. The obtaining module is configured to obtain particular information items allowed to be created by users, the particular information being obtained for each of a key content item and other content items. The relevance calculator is configured to calculate one or more relevances between the key content item and each of the other content items, based on the particular information items. The display information generator is configured to generate display information items expressing the key content item and the other content items, based on the particular information items or content-attribute information items peculiar to the key content item and the other content items. According to one embodiment, in an apparatus according to the present invention, an event detection module detects a section in which a specific feature is produced from video images. An event time information storage module stores therein a start time, and an end time of the detected event section, obtains an analysis time between the start time and the end time, and stores therein the obtained analysis time. A plural event section specification module specifies event sections adjacent to each other as event sections in a group, when an interval between two analysis times adjacent to each other satisfies a predetermined condition. According to one embodiment, a video analyzer includes a still image detector, a characteristic detector, and a boundary position detector. The still image detector detects a still image in video frames of content including video and audio data, and create a still image group of substantially the same still images. The characteristic detector includes at least one of a monochrome detector that detects a monochrome video frame in the video frames of the content and a silence detector that detects a silent portion in which the sound volume of the audio data is lower than a predetermined threshold. The boundary position detector detects a position where the type of the content changes based on information on at least one of the monochrome video frame and the silent portion contained in a segment where the still image group is present and a segment where no still image group is present.

Even when there are a plurality of scene changes in an arbitrary (e.g., commercial) interval or when a plurality of audio modes are mixed in a program, chapter division points can be set suitably. An apparatus comprises an image structuring section which analyzes the similarity between consecutive frames of a video signal and obtains first delimiter information that provides delimitation according to the semantic content of the video signal and an arbitrary interval detecting section for an audio signal. The apparatus creates second delimiter information for silent portions in the audio signal, sets an arbitrary interval, and creates third delimiter information by superimposing the first and second delimiter information one on top of the other. In this case, if the first delimiter information exists in the arbitrary interval, the apparatus rejects the first delimiter information.

Method of and apparatus for setting video signal delimiter information judged from audio and video signals

It is determined whether or not the total length or ratio of periods in which an audio signal is set in a first mode with respect to the preset length of recorded program video signals is not larger than the preset length or ratio. When the total length or ratio is not larger than the preset length or ratio, the audio mode of the main body portion of the recorded video signal is determined to be the second mode. When it is determined that the audio mode is not the second mode, the audio mode of the main body portion is determined to be the first mode. Then, an adaptive processing section (algorithm) which forms separation information in a desired period of the video signal is set according to the above determination result and the thus formed separation information is stored.
