A disk drive apparatus has a main apparatus, a disk tray, a disk rotational drive unit, an optical pickup mechanism, a movable member, an elevator drive mechanism, a protrusion provided on the movable member, and a vibration-absorbing member provided on the protrusion. The disk tray causes a disk to move between a stored position and a drawn-up position relative to the main apparatus. The movable member supports the disk rotational drive unit and the optical pickup mechanism and is mounted to the frame of the main apparatus so that one end is free to rotate. The elevator drive mechanism causes the disk rotational drive unit and optical pickup mechanism to approach and move away from the disk, with the movable member free to move up and down. The protrusion extends toward one end of the movable member. The movable member is provided with the vibration-absorbing member.

A recording and/or playback apparatus using a disc cartridge that accommodates a recording medium such as an optical disc includes a holder, a recording and/or playback section, and a moving mechanism. The holder holds a recording medium that is inserted in the apparatus. When mounted with the recording medium that is held by the holder, the recording and/or playback section performs recording or playback on the recording medium. The moving mechanism moves the holder between a mounting position where to mount the recording medium on the recording and/or playback section and an dismounting position where to separate the recording medium from the recording and/or playback section. The moving mechanism has an urging member for urging the holder toward the recording and/or playback section when the recording medium is mounted onto the recording and/or playback section, and for urging the holder in such a direction that the holder goes away from the recording and/or playback section when the recording medium is separated from the recording and/or playback section.

A disk device is provided with a disk tray having a holding part that holds part of an outer circumference of an optical disk when the disk is inserted into a depression on the disk tray, the disk being held roughly parallel to the surface of the depression. The holding part prevents a disk mounted in a disk tray used in the vertical orientation from tilting with respect to the disk tray, which could interfere with insertion of the disk tray into the disk device.
