A gear machining apparatus creates a gear on a workpiece W by moving a gear cutting tool relatively with respect to the workpiece along the direction of the rotation axis of the workpiece W while synchronously rotating the gear cutting tool and the workpiece. One of a workpiece rotation speed controlling portion and a tool rotation speed controlling portion varies the rotation speed of one of the workpiece and the gear cutting tool and the other one of the workpiece rotation speed controlling portion and the tool rotation speed controlling portion synchronizes the rotation speed of the other one of the workpiece and the gear cutting tool with one of the rotation speed of the workpiece and the gear cutting tool.

Gear machining apparatus and gear machining method

In a thermal displacement compensating device and a thermal displacement compensating method for a machine tool, a block temperature obtaining section obtains temperatures of respective blocks based on temperature information detected by temperature sensors wherein temperatures in each of the respective blocks into which a column is divided to be pluralized are defined as a uniform value. An FEM analysis section performs a structural analysis by a finite element method based on the temperatures of the respective blocks obtained by the block temperature obtaining section and infers thermal displacement amounts of the column. A compensation value calculation section calculates a compensation value for a machining command position based on the thermal displacement amounts of the column inferred by the FEM analysis section. A compensation section compensates the machining command position by the compensation value obtained by the compensation value calculation section.

Thermal displacement compensating device and method for a machine tool

Temperatures of a base, a support member, and a support member are measured, and amounts of linear expansion of the base, the support member, and the support member due to temperature differences from a reference temperature are computed. An amount of linear expansion of a ball screw with respect to the support member is measured. An amount of linear expansion of a lead of the ball screw is computed based on the sum of the aforementioned amounts of linear expansion, and an amount of rotation of the ball screw is adjusted from an amount of rotation of the ball screw at the reference temperature, to an amount of rotation of the ball screw, which corresponds to the amount of linear expansion of the lead at a predetermined temperature.
