The purpose of the present invention is to provide an object detection device conducive to carrying out control in an appropriate manner according to the surrounding environment, with consideration to the accuracy of locations of detected objects. The device is characterized by being provided with: a parallax information generation unit for generating parallax information from a plurality of parallax images acquired from a plurality of imaging units; an object detection unit for detecting objects contained in the parallax images; a location information generation unit for generating location information about the objects, on the basis of the parallax information; and a location accuracy information generation unit for generating location accuracy information pertaining to the accuracy of the location information, on the basis of the condition of generation of the parallax information.

Provided is an object detection device capable of reliably recognizing a vehicle. This object detection device detects multiple three-dimensional objects from a left image and a right image captured with a left imaging unit and a right imaging unit (S), extracts, as combination candidates from among the multiple three-dimensional objects, two three-dimensional objects which exist with an interval to the left/right, and determines whether a sparse parallax region, which is a region having a smaller parallax density than left/right regions, exists in an intermediate region between the two three-dimensional objects extracted as combination candidates. Then, the regions of two three-dimensional objects (for which it has been determined that a sparse parallax region exists in the intermediate region, and which have tentatively been identified as a single three-dimensional object) are extracted respectively from the left and right images and compared to each other, a determination is made regarding whether the perspective is the same, and when it is determined that the perspective is the same, the two three-dimensional objects are determined to be a single three-dimensional object.

In order to provide an imaging apparatus which minimizes erroneous recognition of a moving body and prevent a braking operation from being erroneously performed, even if the moving body is likely to cross a road, the imaging apparatus includes a correlation value calculation unit that calculates a correlation value from two images captured by two imaging units, a three-dimensional object detection unit that detects a three-dimensional object from the two images, a region dividing unit that divides an image region including the three-dimensional object into multiple regions, a relative speed calculation unit that calculates relative speed for every region of the multiple regions, and a reliability calculation unit that calculates reliability of the three-dimensional object, based on the relative speed calculated for every region.

Provided is an object detection device that makes it possible to more accurately detect a road surface even when an area that is not the road surface occupies the majority of an image and the gradient of the road surface is large, and to detect an obstacle on a road surface with greater accuracy than in the prior art. The ship assignment device acquires, from a database, weather information related to the operation time schedule and the sailing route included in the schedule information. The ship assignment device acquires information regarding variations in fuel consumption rate from a database that stores the information for each of plural ships. On the basis of the acquired weather information and acquired information regarding each ship, the ship assignment device calculates the fuel consumption for when each ship sails on the sailing route included in the acquired voyage schedule information in accordance with the operation time schedule included in the voyage schedule information. Object sensing device

For reduced processing time involved in an image recognition process, correctorsandcorrects two source images, acquired by two cameras during the imaging of an object, so that when the two source images are arranged side by side in a lateral direction, the imaged object has the same height in both images. A parallax calculation sectioncalculates, by block matching process, a parallax on the basis of the two corrected source images. A parallax image generation sectiongenerates a parallax image on the basis of the parallax calculated by the parallax calculation section. If a block that has been used during block matching has a rectangular shape including an 'm' number of pixels in a longitudinal direction and an 'n' number of pixels in a lateral direction, a first reduced-image generation sectiongenerates a first reduced image from one of the two corrected source images so that the number of pixels in the longitudinal direction is 1/m and so that the number of pixels in the lateral direction is 1/n. Thus, resolution of the first reduced image equals that of the parallax image. An image recognition sectionperforms image recognition of the object, on the basis of the parallax image and the first reduced image.

To provide an object detection device and an object detection method in which incorrect grouping based on a range image can be prevented, processing is implemented including: generating a range image based on a pair of gray-scaled images (S); grouping adjacent regions having range data representing close distances in the range image (S); calculating differences between the luminance values of pixels in a vertical line below a ground plane above which objects are imaged and the luminance values of pixels in a vertical line above the ground plane in the gray-scaled images and dividing the group region into laterally separated sub-regions (S); and determining whether or not there is a section without vertical edge in either of the left and right areas of each of sub-regions made based on the gray-scaled images and merging sub-regions whose areas including a section without vertical edge are next to each other (S).
