A cache controller controls data input/output of the storage device and causes the semiconductor storage device to function as a cache memory of the storage device. A staging controller performs, when data is staged from the storage device to the cache memory, first staging amount control until a staging amount to the cache memory exceeds a first threshold after the storage apparatus starts up; performs second staging amount control until a variation per unit time of a read amount from the cache memory falls within a predetermined range after the first period; and performs third staging amount control after the second period. With this configuration, the semiconductor apparatus can be efficiently used.

A generation-code storage unit stores therein a generation code in association with identification information for identifying the block datum. A generation-code managing unit assigns a new generation code to a detected consecutive data set and any block datum included in writing data other than the consecutive data set and stores the assigned generation code in the generation-code storage unit. A data writing unit adds the new generation code to the block datum or consecutive data set included in the writing data and writes it to a storage unit. A storage device has a wide link in which any one of addresses that a server has is assigned to a plurality of ports that are connected to the server. A change detecting unit detects a change in the state of any port of the ports. When a change is detected, an address acquiring unit acquires the addresses that are assigned to the ports. In case an error statistics of one of the disk drives exceeds a predetermined threshold, the disk is determined as a suspect disk drive. A recovery mode is set successively. During the time when a setting of the recovery mode is in progress and no access is made from a hostin this time, the address range of the suspect disk drive is specified. At the same time, a processing is started in that the data of the suspect disk is copied to a spare disksequentially to recover the data. The data of the suspect disk drive is copied to the spare disk driveto recover the data when the address range of the suspect disk drive does not correspond to the write failure address range of a management table. The data of a normal disk drive is copied to the spare disk driveto recover the data when the address range of the suspect disk drive corresponds to the write failure address range of the management table. Upon the completion of the recovery of the data, the suspect disk driveis separated and replaced with the spare disk drive

Program, storage control method, and storage system

A storage system accesses a storage device according to the host I/O request and internal I/O request for preventing a time out error of the host I/O due to a stagnation of command processing. The command processing section performs system load management, where the host I/O requests which are not managed by the storage system are managed according to the system load of the storage system, and for the host I/O requests which exceed the system load, the host I/O request is not processed but an error is replied, and the host retries the command to suppress the stagnation of command processing in the system.
