Electromagnetic contactor

A structure for attaching to a flanged mounting rail assemblies of electrical devices such as contactors mechanically joined with each other. A device mounted to each of the contactors, for detachably attaching each contactor to the rail, has a fixed hook, and a movable hook for resiliently engaging with the rail, and an operating member connected to each of the movable hooks for substantially simultaneously moving the movable hooks; the operating member has a poriton accessible from the exterior for moving the movable hooks for allowing the device to be attached to or detached from the rail.

Structure for attaching a switchgear to a rail

An apparatus for mounting an electromagnetic unit on a frame includes a mounting recess at the bottom of the main body of the electromagnetic unit, a guide recess which is communicated with the mounting recess at one side thereof so that it is normal to the mounting recess, and a slidable member which is slidably inserted into the guide recess and normally biased toward the mounting recess by means of a spring supported by a projection disposed in the guide recess, the improvement comprising a stopper disposed in a hole formed in the slidable member, which opposes the spring bearing in the guide recess. The stopper in the hole also serves as a spring guide. The spring is disposed between the stopper in the hole and the length a of the slidable member determined by guide projection formed at the guide recess, the movement length b of the slidable member restricted by the stopper and the projection length c of the front end of the slidable member which projects into the mounting recess is preset so that a&gt;b&gt;c.

Apparatus for mounting electrical appliance on frame

A contactor, relay, or other switch has stationary contacts and a movable crossbar which carries a movable contact member provided with movable contacts. The contact member has lost motion relative to the crossbar and is resiliently biased by a spring so that the crossbar can continue to move after the contacts have met the stationary contacts. The crossbar has oblique guide grooves engaging the contact member so that, during the further movement of the crossbar, the contact member is caused to move longitudinally while the movable and stationary contacts touch, thus producing a contact wiping action due to sliding of the contacts. The contact member also has an asymmetical cross section comprising a projection where, when the contacts are open, it touches the crossbar so that, in this condition, the contact member is laterally tilted. When the movable contacts meet the stationary contacts and the crossbar continues to move, the contact member rotates from its tilted position under the action of the spring, causing the movable contacts to turn on the stationary contacts, thus producing a rotary wiping action. When the contacts are opened, similar double wiping action occurs in reverse. The rotary wiping action is in a curved path generally perpendicular to the straight path of the wiping action due to sliding of the contacts.

Switch

A method and apparatus for indicating the contact structure of an electromagnetic contactor on the housing thereof using laser light is disclosed. The contact structure of a contactor to be marked with terminal numbers or the like is detected by a checking device. Based on the results of checking, a mask selector selects a suitable mask and positions it in the optical path of a laser. Laser light is shined through the mask onto the housing of the contactor. The laser light which passes through the mask and strikes the housing produces discoloration of the housing, and extremely clear terminal numbers, name plates, or other information in the form of characters, symbols, or shapes can be marked on the housing with the laser light. In addition to determining the contact structure, the checking device determines whether the contacts are faulty.

An electromagnetic contactor having normally open and normally closed contact pairs 22, 26 includes a movable crossbar 12 having apertures 14 with sloping guide surface 18', 18' for guiding movable contact members 16 disposed in the apertures. These sloping surfaces serve to jam the crossbar against the base 10 of the contactor when the crossbar is moved in a direction to open fused contact pairs, to thereby prevent the normally open and normally closed contact pairs from being closed at the same time.

An electromagnetic contactor having normally open and normally closed contact pairs 22, 26 includes a movable crossbar 12 having apertures 14 each defining two guide surfaces 18a, 18b; 18c, 18d inclined at different angles for guiding spring biased movable contact members 16 disposed in the apertures. These inclined surfaces serve to jam the crossbar against the base 10 of the contactor when the crossbar is moved in a direction to open fused contact pairs during the initial spring decompression movement of the crossbar, to thereby prevent the normally open and normally closed contact pairs from being closed at the same time.
